$50,000 to-win FASTRAK “Grand Nationals” adds $6,000 in tow money; Night 2 & 3 to take place at Tennessee’s MountainRacewayPark & Volunteer Speedway
September 17, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Carnesville, GA…The FASTRAK Racing Series just never seems to stop giving back to the teams as now $6,000 in tow money is guaranteed in addition to the purse each night and the $250,000 National point fund money.
Over $250,000 is up for grabs in October. Know as the “richest point fund for grass roots racing’ in the country, the popularity of the FASTRAK Late Model Series still continues to grow every day. Over 70 dirt late models are expected each day, which will surely make this one of the largest events in the nation. The double file restarts running under the choose format makes it one of the more competitive events all year long and is certainly a fan favorite. Several fans and drivers were quoted as saying it was the single best race they had ever seen and you didn’t know who was going to win it until the checkered flag waved.
The tow money will be divided equally among all the teams that do not make the show in nights 2 and 3 of the Grand Nationals, which will take place at Tennessee’s Mountain Raceway Park and Volunteer Speedway the third week of October. Teams must compete in all three Grand National races to be eligible for the tow money,
“This will help the teams that made the trip, but for whatever reason don’t qualify the features,” explained FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester. “I think all of our teams see that we are doing our best to help everyone and that every team is important. They are all FASTRAK teams and that means it’s our responsibility to make sure they too, are taken care of”.
Nights two and three will be the challenge of the entire year with teams from 23 states expected to make the trip. This year, each Region will hold its on NIGHT 1 differing from the 2006 Grand Nationals. Then two to three weeks later everyone from across the country comes together for the ending races of the 2007 season. The team with the most points at the end of the three races earns the $50,000 first place prize paying a possible 50 positions. 2006 Grand National Champion, Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance, took home the prize which was the largest in his over 30 years of racing. LaMance was a many-time Super Late Model Champion, but decided from a standpoint of economics, FASTRAK was definitely the way to go in the future.
“Think about it,” said LaMance. “I took a 1999 model car, had a pick up truck and open trailer, stayed at my home track all year with the exception of a few touring races I went too, bought only 10 tires all year long and won $50,000 plus another $32,000 in contingencies. I mean man; this was with a $5,000 engine. How much better does it get than that?”
LaMance was definitely the “storybook-ending” to a remarkable year of the FASTRAK Late Model Series. LaMance was helped by many manufacturers throughout the 2007 season because of his accomplishments with the series in 2006. “I have never had that much factory support from sponsors,” revealed LaMance. “A lot of people have helped me during my racing career, but FASTRAK has become so popular and the amount of interest was really surprising.”
Time will only tell who the 2007 FASTRAK Grand National Champion will be. The three-race shoot out format has become one of the most popular races in the entire country. Fans are sure to be pleased as it is as much a show as it is racing.
“Expect to see some different things this year,” said Lester. “Our teams are second to none, but without our fans we just don’t exist. The fans are incredibly important and we will give them one of the best shows they have ever seen. I know some people may not have heard of some of these drivers, but come and watch them. Give them a real opportunity to show you what they can do. Not all of them have the funds to go super late model racing, but that does not mean they aren’t good drivers. Our drivers are great. You take EQUAL engines, EQUAL tires and GREAT drivers and you are guaranteed to see some incredible racing. Add in the autograph sessions, fireworks, side-by-side restarts, and it is a recipe for success. The teams are racing for a piece of the $250,000, but the fans will get a lot more than their money’s worth. This is a three-day shootout you won’t forget for a long, long time.”
