Only know the Late Model results.
1-Neil Welch
2-Bubba McGee
3-Gary East
after that it was too crazy to see the finish line crossing... so.. I guess we'll wait for the "official" reuslt!
On a side note.... we had a pretty good time up on the hills of Va. last night. We kinda thought it was going to be tough, first time on a new track...... but we pulled trough it with a decent run for Pop(RIP)!

Made my first trip down last night and enjoyed it! I wondered when I seen the track how racey it would be but it was pretty good. Wish the pits were at the same level though so we could have seen some of that action after the races...LOL. Entertaining night. I have to say that anyone following Yahoo Maps direction coming from the North WILL get lost because they either are for roads that dont exist or their mileage is completely and hopelessly wrong..lol. Thankfull ran into a guy out walking on the Parkway that set us good for directions. Got there late but it worked out good because the only thing we missed was qualifying...lol....so that was a good thing.

Thats the first time Yahoo has done me wrong. Doesnt matter now though its pretty easily found after the help..lol. I will be back at some point for sure. I do love a little track like that. That mini stock feature was a hoot..lol...definitely a surprise ending. That track would be off the hook with a full field of cars. Track configuration doesnt much matter when they are prepped well and that one seemed to be with just a little chopping up high which was probably caused by the newness of the clay.
Sundi it took me just a shade over 3 hours which really isnt bad compared to some of the road trips I have been on this year.

Hi everybody. Me and Gary would like to say thank you to the great group of drivers and fans who give us a chance each week to try and work harder to make the track a better place for you. Without our drivers and fans we wouldn't be a track at all. Thanks to Wayne, Jason and Roger you guys work hard! Thanks also to the rest of our staff who work it hard every Friday. But most of all thanks to Bobby, Mike and Randy our new members who made this past Friday's race fall seamlessly into place! Gary & Alesia @ Rolling Thunder

I walked behind the announcing shed a couple of times during intermission but I wasnt sure which was you. Last time I heard you announce was at the good ol Friendship Speedway...I still miss that place.
Definitely the quote of the night was heard after the mini feature before anyone even left the track. "Sheriff's Department to the staging area please!" Heheheheeehe That was priceless!
:18lol:
Ill be back before the years over. I think Beckley may move to Saturdays so that will leave Fridays open to travel some more.
Almost forgot to add I have always loved that camo Camaro that Stamper races..lol..hadnt seen him run since Elkin either. He was winning then also...lol.

I too was surprised with the racing after seeing the track. It is incredibly small. Can someone verify the size? I heard it was a 3/10, but it is certainly no larger than Bowman Gray Stadium (maybe smaller) and that is a certified 1/4 miler. I've raced gokarts on larger tracks.
Great racing in the mini-stocks and mini-sprints. The track is too small for late models in my opinion, but those races were better than I thought they would be. I was at first impressed with Nance, then disappointed in him when he had a brain lapse and did a lot of damage to East's car after spinning and doing a donut in front of the field.
2 suggestions:
1. Do away with the rule where you only allow one double-file start. In crates, you gave the win to the pole-sitter and he was the one that jumped the first start. The outside pole-sitter was faster, but his only chance at the win was on the start (without wrecking the other guy). With this rule, you "rewarded" the pole-sitter for jumping the start by going single-file. The pole-sitters will jump often with this rule in place.
2. Work on the parking lot. I have a good-sized gash in my shin from a root that stuck out of the ground about 12", that I hit on the way to the truck in the dark.
My biggest pet-peave about dirt tracks are that they drag the show out. RT advertised 7:00 practice. I got there at 7:30 and they were about to start heats. I watched all of the races except the Ucars and was in my truck leaving at 10:45, and home in Greensboro at 12:15. That's awesome and appreciated. Keep that up!

BIGKID----Lots of ACTION friday but to comment on my post from racerslounge last week. The track for late models is nothing more than a CRASH DERBY event.Friday really showed that NC MUDCAT AGREES WITH ME.Look bottom line is this great track with lots of great potential but like i said lengthen straights about 100',push the wall out on front straight and you'll still have the great drivers track!!!!!!The way it stands now someone spins there is know room to go anywhere just like on the start of last weeks LM feature like5 cars slammed into each other for that very reason NO ROOM!!How many teams do you think are going to run every week when its goin be a crash fest every week theres more than just sheet metal getting bent it will cost a lot of money to keep a LM team coming back....I will come every chance i get and hope the drivers do also, really want the track to suceed!!Just giving my opinion no expert, been to many tracks just giving friendly advice. The lights where a great addition need one more level 2 of sitting next to parking area coming down toward pit gate from stand side. The food deal was much better also bologna burger rocks!!If you do any more work this week you really need to get that USA FLAG UP---PUT IT ON POLE AT FLAG STAND THERE LIKE ONLY 10$ AT LOWES..KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

I was disapointed in myself also. Guess all the long nights of working on the car and only getting 4 or 5 hrs of sleep just got to me. Maybe working out in the heat all day Friday. Just for some reason only felt 50%. Hate I tore up Gary's car too.

Hey Mudcat, I can vouch for the 3/8 size, measured it myself with a measuring wheel. It's 3/8 in the outside groove. (6 feet from the outside wall) It looks a little smaller from the stands I'm sure, several guys were riding the road above the track each week watching progress and I spoke with one of them at Wally World and told him to come down to track level a look at it. He said it did look a lot bigger from the 4th turn. Track is 3/8 and 60 feet wide and 100 ft. wide on the back staright. I don't know how 3/10 got put up. I think poorboy road around it in his pickup.
fanofpoohbear, If building a racetrack was so easy , everyone would have one. Where exactly do you think we can get another 100 feet longer? I haven't heard anything but praise from the drivers. I hate some cars got damage, but you can't blame it all on the racetrack. The track wasn't initionally built for racing late models, it was surveyed at 1/4 mile for 4 cylinder and mini-sprints. But the Late-Models and Crate LM kept asking for us to try to get the track so they could run. It took another month and several thousand dollars to expand the track to it's current size, (just for the LM guys) the whole reason for no inside wall is to give the drivers somewhere to go if they do spinout.
It was a race on Speed a couple of weeks ago on a 1/5 mile track with Nascar stars driving mods. The WOO LM's run a race on a 1/4 mile track already this year. I admit it takes drivers to race at RTR, steering wheel holders won't get it done. We have made improvements , ones that were needed too. We admit it, but just wait a week or two, three LM drivers have been running Super LM engines, Poohbear is one of them. It is hurting them so they will be putting the Steel head engines in and running 150LB. lighter and not lighting the tires up soo bad. The 3 car the first race ran an all aluminum engine, I hear he had his other Steel head car with him and wished he ran it instead. I understand even though he follows the Carolina Clash, he liked the track and might be headed back this way. The 33 and the 3 proved in the first race that LM can RACE at RTR. And it was a heck of a race for first and forth in the LM race Friday night. And the Crate race was side by side several times for the lead. Me, myself, I would rather see racing like that than the leader check out and follow the leader racing. I've been to twenty -two tracks in the last two years, believe me RTR has good racin. And GREAT drivers. Go to the 4/10 mile of South Boston and watch a race.
That's why a couple that have went to Bowman Gray for 20 years came to RTR Friday night and said "that was racing," they have found a new racetrack to call home.
Poohbear himself called Gary last Sat. morning bragging on the place.
As far as double file being one time, it is that way because we are not going to spend the night getting a race started. The green flag starts the race, the 5 got the better start, no jump. The 25 was a good clean racer, he could have been a tad more aggressive and maybe won, but a second is better than a tore up car. If the flagman or I think one driver jumps the flag( the flag starts the initial race) not the drivers., he will get to try next time from the rear. I penalized two drivers for jumping starts Friday night, it will hurt at the pay window.
Thanks
Wayne

Hey JH, As soon as I get a chance I'm coming to Clary's to see you, but have to wait till 311 Speeday's season is over. When is thier last race?
RedMan, Next time you visit you better grab me or something to get my attention.LOL I had alot of folks come up to me at the press tower during intermission just to speak. And yep the Friendship dirt days were something to remember. Especially announcing the last dirt race there. Was that 2001? I've only been to 1 race at Friendship since it was paved. And I had a good time then. Have you been to 311 this year? If not this week will be a good one to come to. Carolina Super Series!!!
BigKid, Can you remember the times that have been set for Late Models. I've got to keep up with the track record....Maybe Alesia still has the times that Bobby wrote down.

Yeah wanted to after the race but felt it was bad timing. Plus the sheriff would not leave my side untill we left. Guess thats his job. Untill I watched to tape did not realize what Gary was mad about on the track. Will see if we can get the car back together by then. May have to take Friday off work to do so.

Yeah Ive seen some realy good deals on Rayburns latley. I am on a fence with them realy. Four bar or swing arm. Where realy good on the wet but just fair when the track is dusty. My car is a 96 and its the only late model I understand. Ive been 5 years just fiquring this thing out. They do good in a drag race so to speak. Like here, Antioch and is OK at Carolina. Tracks like 311 and Lancaster where the cornors are wide and the car stays in a slid for a long time it just dont have any traction. Thinking about just building my own car from the car I already have. I don't run the Rayburn setups anyway. Every time I talk to CJ or use his setup sheets the car just spins worse.

Roger, I honestly have been looking towards a switch from Rocket to Rayburn. I used to run Rayburns around 97 and 98 but I went to Larry Shaw and then to Rocket. CJ's got some different stuff going on now with the swingarm and Babb's showing a lot of traction on the slick with the new cars. It does make you wonder though when you look on racinjunk though when you see an 06' Rayburn for 7600 and an 06' Rocket or GRT sells for 14000 or more. I'll have to say I really like my Rockets, and they are great people to work with. I've called them on different occasions asking for some help and they called me back every time the next week just to see if they fixed the problem, that means a lot!!

From what I am seeing out of Rayburn is he went back to the shorter swing arms and baring like my car is now. Not sure what the narrow rear clip is doing for them. I am interested in that two pull bar deal where he has taken off the torque arm and chain and only using one brake shock. I like the TNT cars Timbo is running and the Barry Wright cars Rambo and Pursely got are really flying. The Rocket cars i ve raced with this year seem to be to aggressive if you make a mistake and have to lift they seem to get in trouble fast. Seen several this year just wreck going down the straights. Weeks is doing good with his though.
