:i_dont_believ_it: My dad called me and told me that he had heard from a member at his church that ***** Johns wasn't going to run the track unless the Supers were running. Said ***** isn't making enough money during the off weeks to afford all the track prep and the other stuff.
:icon_badidea:
Sounds like a bunch of Bull S!@# to me. If he would just let people that know what they are doing run the track and just stay out of the way maybe things could be different.
Looks to me like every time someone comes along that will make things better he just runs them away.

I hope that isn't True! He needs to STOP having so many Super Late Model races, i know it brings money in to him, but he has to pay it right back out! He needs to just have a couple right now. I hope everything goes good. That will suck if that happens!!!

If you go to the 311 website and look at the payout for the supers he pays out 9,970 dollars for each 25 lap race thats 20,940 dollars for both races. and then he has to pay out for all the other division. really don't see how he makes any money. they had more people in the grandstand at rolling thunder for practice than they had in grandstands for the super races.

AMEN 33
TRACK PREP? When and where, dumping a truck load of water and letting the tadpoles swim in it when it puddles up at the bottom of the track is hardly track prep. I heard he had his mind made up Earlier in the week he wasnt running Saturday.
Hate to say it like this, but look how he takes care of his own family, throwing there clothes in the dumpster, and all sorts of crap, and does anyone expect him to give a dang about anyone else? I dont know what he see's when he looks in the mirror, but i have a video tape of a women thumping a cigarette in his face calling him a "bawled up SOB". Well with out referrence to his momma, i think its true, the b probably stands for something else.

You're right, I can see that he is paying too much out when he has the supers there, he don't need to have so many of them. Im surprise he can keep it open paying all that money out, i know he gets money by many people in the pits and grandstands and food, but not that much, where does he get that much money, to pay out? and still stay open. It's not that many people in the Granstands when the Supers come. There is more people in the pits than in the Grandstand. I can't see it! And $20 to watch the Supers, like at least down to $15, maybe he can get more fans!

I cleaned up this thread and moved the Fork Mountain stuff to HERE (http://www.localracechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29227)
Unless a track officially says it's closed on a particular day let's don't advertise other tracks events on their forum. In this case the 311 website still reads there is a race this weekend so we have to assume that is what's going to take place..
Thanks for understanding...

well i guess its going to be called the part time 311 clay and rock pitt!!!!!!!
the "maybe daytona of dirt"
folks i really hate that the track is just weathering away till next year.i really came up here to put my heart and soul into making 311 the premier track of the u.s. and have the best place ever to race.
i just dont understand why those racetrack workshops teach promoters that it aint about racing.they tell you that its about selling tickets and seats and hotdogs and selling entertainment.well its good to do all that but you have to make it enjoyable for the drivers and owners as well.
i really believe if you put your intrest in making a good surface and know that without the cars you have nothing to sell seats and hotdogs for.
i have raced at many tracks and my recollection is the tracks where we were treated like crap the owners either sold out or were not successfull at all.
i wish i could start a workshop where the first thing would be how to talk to folks and be a people person and catch more flies with honey and not vinegar.
i have a good friend named jeff jones that had a track called onycha raceway in ala.he told me he went and spent all that money on the workshop that nascar puts out and he told me this.
they went through those two or three days of meetings demographics and all the stuff about a track and promoting.then when it was all said and done that bill france france jr. stood up and said gentelmen we have given you all this stuff about tracks but the bottom line is you treat those drivers like crap and tell them if you dont like it we dont need you and go race somewhere else because we are the owners and its going to go our way or not.
he said it was about selling hotdogs and seats, not about the racing.racing is the last part of it.he said you are selling entertainment and not racing, and he said if the racers want to race they will be back and do just like you want them to.he said racers were born every second into this world and plenty of them would be along.
jeff (my friend) said he was so pissed off after spending his money to learn how nascar really was that he came home and sold his track and got slam out of racing.
he said thats whats wrong with racing today that nascar has tainted it all these years by getting drivers and owners ready to be done anyway that they please if they ever make it to nascar.
i know this to be true because i have had my dealings with nascar on some products i made for racing.and trust me i saw exactly what jeff was talking about.those folks that run nascar are ruthless and could care less about safety or a driver.they honestly think people will come and go but nascar is the ruler of all racing, including you and me.
like i said i wish i could do something to put an end to this that has taught for many years.i love racing and dedicated my whole life to it to only get there and see another picture of the other side of the upper echelon of asses.
well folks im sure sorry,i thought i really could make a difference but i had a stumbling block in my way and its only going to get worse till the end.
what i said is like an editorial and its my true feelings on racing here in the future.i hope i havent offended anyone but i can see 311 not changing for the better untill my father has no control of it.and if jaybird gets it back i hope he needs an insightful person to help cause i would in a minute, because i felt real strong about the people that race there and the fans i have met.everyone has been great to me and i wish i could have changed it.my father told me many times "boy this track will be yours one day" well he lied again!!!!!!!

racejunkie i want to thank you for a great place for all the racers and fans to express thier opinions and thoughts.there are some really good people here and if the track owners used this valuable tool you have made i think racing could be so much better.
anyway i hope i havent posted anything that is out of the way but man what controversy on a track and its runnings.again thank you!
