After my first trip down to clarys I must say it was one of the better dirt tracks Ive been too. The show moved along pretty well. The only downside seems to be carcount which I guess can be tied to the fact the up north theres a lot more people with expendable cash flow for a race team then down south. Only thing I didnt understand is why theres so many divisions that are so simalar like the Pro 4? and mod 4? i think was the names were they both had low car counts and didnt seem much different to me and pretty much every v8 class besides SLM looked about the same out there. My thought was just to combine them all and have a lot better car counts. Im use to seeing 30+ cars in every division so 8 or 10 was little odd IMO. I think if they slowly transistioned the class rules to make them uniform just make different weight rules so a car with less power weighs in about 200lbs less and ofcourse you'd have to adjust it a little bit but that way your v8 class would have 30 cars and the 4cyl class like 20 then its a full field. But thats just my humble oppinion anyways the racing was very competitive and I liked the track a lot.

this is what I have said since becoming a member here on LRC . I also am from north of the line and we are not use to having 6/8 classes a night with only 6 /9 cars for a whole feature race, maybe a heat race, a field of that size would get maybe 10 to 12 laps and thats it.But this is also something that just seems to be in the Eastern Carolina and Southern Virginia. I feel if they run that many classes they should cut back on the laps. I know this is going to open a bucket of worms but that is NOT the intent of this, I am just agreeing with you. I would much rather to get home at 11:00 then 1:30 or 2:00. If you would combine the classes that are so close to each other in there rules that would help build your car count. The other classes as you say, do a weight deal with them to get your classes down to 4 or 5 a night and then you could do the deal like been whats been mentioned on here. School bus race, chain race, backward race or what ever for a fill in (support).

Hey glad to see someone new come down to watch racing action . me and marcia and some other friends would love to go back up there and look at some different tracks and how they do things.I am glad also you had good time. And as far as all the classes they represent the income of money each racer can spend on a car, they may look the same but there's big HP defferents.

Glad you had a good time, and hope if you ever get the chance you will be back.......and you do make some very valid points and they are things that have been discussed at length, and the main reason for not combining classes at this point is the expense to the drivers, they would be forced to go to another track or sit in the stands because most of them just can't afford to make the chages necessary to combine a couple of the classes....but it is something that stays in the back of our minds......

Ya I know theres gonna be HP differences but for instance Ill take a class at my favorite local track there called 358 modifieds, You can buy a 12:1 compresion 500+ hp motor in that division for around $15,000-$20,000 or you can purchase a crate engine for $6,000. They give the weaker motor a 150lb weight break along with a 4bbl carb as opposed to a 2bbl 500cfm on the other motor, and you can run aluminum wheels as opposed to steel. Now these weaker power cars save a ton of money and are still very competetive. Infact a guy I know how has one of the weaker motors finished second in points (out of 30+ cars) and had 5 wins with this budget set up. This is just food for thought but I nkow what your saying when it comes to money differences and HP increments but this is an example of how its done here in NJ.
