View Full Version : Collection for Robert Clay

Marcia Reed
08-08-2007, 06:56 PM
For those of you that haven't read it in the CLR forum, Robert Clay lost his home to a fire yesterday. Robert has raced 4 cylinders in the past and currently helps on the 03 car of Jerry Dickerson which Greg Williams drives.

In order to help Robert and his family during this difficult time, there will be a "Pass the Helmet" collection at intermission this Saturday at Clary's Speedway to donate to this family. Also in the morning we will have sizes and gender clothes that may be useful to the family as well, so anyone needing to do a little closet cleaning, here's a good opportunity to do it and donate what you no longer wear to a much deserving family. Anything anyone can bring that will help these folks will be greatly appreciated, there will be more info out in the morning.

I would really like to thank Marcia for making this post for me. I wasn't quite sure how to word it exactly, so thanks Marcia! **loveya**

Robert has been a huge part of the 03 team for a long time, and any help of any kind that you all would like to contribute would be most greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. I will be at Clary's on Saturday night, most likely in the 89 pit to take items that are to be donated. Please stop by, even if just for a minute, just to send a good word and prayer to Robert and his family.

Thanks again to Marcia, and of course, to Missy for allowing us to make this happen.

DMS and all drivers, fans and crews are very fortunate and lucky to have a guy like this at the track every week and when a tragedy strikes he reaches out to anyone whether they are involved at the track he attends or any other track which is the case here. keep doing what you are doing b/c every thing you do at the track and away from the track is greatly appreciated. thank you

Lets have a foot race with a 5.00 entry or more for the race car drivers and the winner can donate all the money to that family . Maybe just down the front stretch, mark off two lines start to finish. I'll race and challenge any and every driver at Clary's .

I don't know about a foot or bicyle race among the drivers. We're already collecting for one ... we might end up collecting for medical bills for half of the drivers if we make them excercise. :run_over:

Seriously, I like the idea and hopefully we can do a foot race or something with the drivers at CLR also ... I'll be rootin' for Britches!

kevin, if britches ran in the race, he would be one to pull for as the under dog, he might knock everybody over.

:smiley_593::idea:What about a raffle?? Raffle off a ride on the Rocket #89 car or the Rock Ray Tucker#0 car for a lucky fan,and all the money go to the family of Robert Clay. You could just raffle it for $1.00 a chance. It's just a thought?????

I have quite a few photos from Clarys just sitting here, mainly 4x6. Quite a few have Ricky Elliott in them (from last year). If you want I can drop off the photos on the way to CLR on Saturday. You could ask $.25 or something for the 4x6s and maybe $1.00 (or $.50) for the 8x10 stickers (JC, "Disco" Damon, and Kent). All the money can go straight to Robert and his family. I plan on doing the same thing at CLR with CLR photos I have laying around).

Also, depending when Ricky Elliott and some of the others get there, I can take pics of them with their cars and print out some 4x6s (my portable printer isn't real fast) and you can sell them and put it all to the fund.

That's a wonderful idea Kevin! I am not sure what time I will get to Clary's tomorrow, I'm thinking around 5:00, but I'm sure if you want to leave them with Marcia if I am not there or with the guys at the pit gate I can pick them up when I get there. I'm sure we can come up with something.
