Hey guys,
Just heard from insurance company.
Minimum age for anyone in the pits is 14 years old.
They said this is to be strictly inforced.
Sorry for any inconvenience......
This information should be on the track web-site tomarrow.

Hey guys,
Once again, the rule for nobody under 14 in the pits will be inforced Friday night. Alesia was on the phone all day today trying to find a way around it. But no luck, and they simply can not risk loosing everything. Please make plans as needed.

I thought racing was a family event! If the kids can't go the race track will fail. Sorry but it's a FACT and that's all I got to say about that!

Racing is a family event but it does have it's dangers and the pits is one of them. I personally would not want my kids in the pits, there is just too much going on all night and when the races are going on you never know when a driver is going to come through them and no matter what speed, a car is much bigger and always comes out the winner.

It aint a problem having kids in the pits if they are actually made to mind. I've seen kids at 311 throwing the football, run out in front of a late model, and just barely get out of the way in time.
There wouldnt be any worse feeling for the parent or the driver if something was to happen to a little kid.

Very, Very Few Tracks Or Pits Allow Less Then 14 Year Old Kids In The Pits. The Tracks That Do You Might Want To Check Them Out.
My Suggestion To 4boyzdot, Is , You Might Want To Check And See What Kind Of Insurance The Other Track Has.
Like Rj Said Pits Can Be And Are A Dangerous Place For Kids.
Before You Even Ask, The Dangers In The Pits Range From Track Rage To Fire To Hot Cars To Tires Exploding (bead Locks).

I know it can be more difficult to make it a family event for those who are racing. When Brandon gets his ready to run up there, we'll have to find a sitter which can be a pain sometimes, but it really is for the best not to have kids in the pits. I've seen way too many kids run around at another track unsupervised and it's just not safe. Like I said previously, I'm glad they were nice enough to let us know in advance so we can plan ahead.

its a right call........ kids need to be in the stands. Insurance or not! I know I myself, wouldnt want to live with the thought that I hurt a child rather I was at fault or not. The pits is a good place for them to get hurt.

More and more tracks are having to do this so everyone had better be prepared. For those of you that don't like it put yourself in this situation. You are going to your pits and a kid darts out in front of you and you kill or badly injure him then how would you feel. I couldn't stand it and most of the time the parents are gonna blame you or the track. One lawsuit like that and the track is shut down. Everything they worked for gone in one second. Put them in the stands and quit being so difficult and be safe. If you don't want to come because of attitude then stay at home. Sorry but that's the way I feel about it.

All have made very good points on this matter. But, first of all the race is on the track not in the pits, most tracks inforce that rule for safety for everybody not just kids under 14. Secondly, I agree that alot of kids are left unattended and I also agree that these kids probably should not be there. That is a direct reflection on the parents, and that is a whole other topic. But the ones that would want to be there to learn, hang out with and watch the things it takes to actually race a car, should be able to go in the pits. Most racecar drivers at the track can and do pay more attention to other cars and the people around them than the drivers you see at the WalMart trying get a front row park. More cars and more people in this parking lot than any race pit, and you don,t know any of them. At least people know who is in the pits with them every week and who usually brings their kids. THE RACE IS ON THE TRACK. THE LIFE IS IN THE PIT. How is a young person supposed to get ready to drive by the age of 14 at most tracks if he or she can't get near the car before then.

Everyone understands that you want your family with you in the pits, especially if you have an up-and-coming driver. We all want to be with our families and it makes it hard if you have young children for some to have to go to the stands and others in the pits. The rule affects us all. It's one that was made by the insurance company and will be enforced so there is no fighting it. You say the race is on the track, not in the pits, but the way the pits and the road leading to the track are designed at RTR, it could be very dangerous for kids. To get to the top of the hill to watch the race, the pit crews, team members, etc, have to walk up the same road the cars are coming on and off of the track from. Also, a driver who is having a rough night could be frustrated and may not always be watching for little ones coming up and down that hill and quite honestly he/she shouldn't have to. RTR will be a family-friendly track--just without kids under 14 in the pit area.

I know it sounds hard but it's not that bad. When I was growing up my brother raced and the track wouldn't let anyone under 16 in the pits until the last car went across the scales. I work with him all week to get the car ready and loaded just to sit with my mom in the grandstands. Rules are Rules one track we go to makes u have on long pants and this time of the year makes it very hot. A few weeks ago I was at a track and kids were spinning each other around on pit road little time latter those kids are crying getting the EMTs to fix a cut on ones leg. The point is if u love it, u will love it regardless of the place u have to sit!!!!!!!!!

Its so easy to say yeah the parents need to be watching their kids, but, 1st off anybody who has small kids you gotta watch them every minute,.....2nd like someone said at 311 Ive seen kids and teenagers playing, riding bikes and running around and all, seen angry drivers fling in, yeah, tellem to slow the heck down but guess what, it may be to late then.......3rd I've seen wheels fling off bouncing through to pit, seen mud or car parts come fling off the track and hit someone cause they were to close to the track......seen cars coming in with no brakes and gotta hit something just to stop.....hell Ive been walking down thru the pits many a times out of the way and near get ran over......somebodies engine cut off and didnt hear them coming or whip out from between 2 trailers......and Ive came close to running over people myself cause THEY wasnt paying attention......GROWN PEOPLE! Argue all ya want bottom line it just is not a place for small childeren unless there with you every minute in your pit and then your gotta be watchin all around all the time......

Hey, I never thought of something like that. Pretty cool idea. I know it's not feasible for the track at the moment, but the whole fenced in playground would be great, especially with a paid staff member to work it. I'd gladly pay someone to watch my kids at least while I'm helping get the car ready and all that stuff. Imagine how convenient that would be! And you'd be able to just run over and check on the kids when you want. I know, I know, I'm thinking big here, but it's still a neat thought.

It happens up here every Saturday night at Bridgeport Speedway in NJ. Jay has 2 staff people that monitor the area until around 9:30 or 10:00 (not sure). Swings, see-saw, 2 playhouses, and a big bouncy thing that kids get inside and jump around. Its a pretty neat deal.

Its a good thing that this new track is inforcing this new rule..Even though it may not be easy to find a sitter ..U never know when a driver is comming around the corner or in a hurry..Its a positive thing that they dont want to to take the chance..Of a child getting hurt.. I myself been going to tha track many years not paying attention( in which we all do ) almost got ran over last week at 311 BY THE WATER TRUCK!!! (greaf) didnt slow down till he got to me.. And a adult in my familey did get hit a while back..flew her in the air.. Dont Take the chance of that happening to a kid... Thats my oppinion!!

another Thing Alot Of Tracks Are Doing Are Having Kids Clubs.......i Know At Every Race At Franklin County Speedway They Have Activities Before The Races For Kids.....including Painting A Race Car And Other Kids Activities.during The Race Every Week They Have A Cartoon Character In Costume Walking Through The Stands Giving All The Kids Small Gifts.(stuffed Animals, bottles Of Bubbles, etc)

Hey it's all good. Just depends on who you ask and whos eyes you're looking thru. I hope everyone concerned can race and have a good time doing it SAFELY! I truly hope for the racers in this area that everything works out regardless of the pit ages. Enjoyed the chat. Been bored lately, looking for other tracks to race.

I have been around racing for most of my life, i have seen lots of things happen as we have already read. I have seen a case where the children was being watched there dad's car was parked in front of its trailer but another driver came off the track mad and slammed the car almost knocking it over the kids. So i ask is there are really anyway we can keep the kids safe in the pits, i don't think we can no matter how hard we watch them.
thanks for letting me speak my mind

I see this as a interesting issue......as far as safety which should be first I completely understand kids under 14 not being allowed in the pits......BUT if they were competitors (NOT SPECTATORS)they should be allowed in the pits......ALL of us at some point or time who have probably seen grown adults that should probably should not have been allowed in the pits.....ha ha !!!
