Does any one know the REAL reason why the S8 driven by Ronnie Covey was Disqualified last Saturday? All I heard was it was an illegal part on the engine.

I agree with that why in the world would you have to have power steering? That makes no sense at all.

Was this a UCAR? Almost all UCAR classes say to keep car almost all the way stock. Some will let you take off the AC but that's about all. This is truely suppose to be a STOCK class. They let drivers move down from other classes to drive UCARS?

Everyone has valid points. The Ucar class is supposed to be a Strickly Stock class for Beginners. No engine mods (no cold air intake, no head work, no changing any internal parts), no steering or suspension mods (leave on ALL the factory stuff and leave it the way it came from the factory). Usually the AC is allowed to come off as well as the condensor but NOTHING else. Just strip out the interior, the lights and the glass then add a roll cage, a seat, window net, harness and safety stuff then go racing but it has gotten way out of hand at all the tracks.

Don't get me wrong I love to see a good close race with a Little "RUBBIN" and a lot of passing but it should be between the regulars drivers of the class and not those from higher divisions. I couldn't understand how the track would let one driver race the car in the heats and another one drive the car in the feature.

ok folks im going to attempt to answer the original question.the s8 had a cold air intake tube and a k&n filter, and besides you must start the race with a hood.
i talked with mr. sisk the owner of the car and he was saying that the shiny polished tube was a stock item and i disagreed.so i dq'd mr. covey.
i hated to do that but the way i see things is it must be like from the factory, and to me the filter and tube werent.
i also think this class is a beginner class and they have to remain stock to be fair with everyone that is racing in it.
i hate mr. sisk son didnt get to race in the jr class afterwards but i called it as i saw it and i just want everyone to have a chance racing.
hope i answered the question on the s8. i would like to commend mr. covey and the sisks on thier sportsmanship about the dq.

UNDERSTAND but what you are saying, was it the hood or filter.

rjweld67 - I understand it all. I know you feel sorry about the DQ but if they are illegal then they are illegal. They know the rules just as much as everyone else. Maybe they shouldn't have made it so obvious.

Sorry to hear that you are leaving. Just as the track was getting better. In fact last Saturday I thought the track was BETTER than it has been.
