I heard on the race show last night that FMR will be having a no rules or limited rules race in every division. I guess this will tell him if the local support for the track is really there. He said he would have the information on the website in a day or two for everyone to check out. From what I seen of them it's pretty simple, like 3 or 4 things that are required like carb. tires, and weight. Maybe we'll get to see a full car field in some of the divisions again. He's said he's working on a new pay scale as well. But we all could forget a friday night this year, and he would let everyone know about next year in October. Hope there is a good turnout and we will have some great racin.

Youngenginefan if the nights a problem for you then I guess you'll miss us huh? There will be no racing this year on friday nights, what does it take to sink in with you? If the racers can't choose to race at FMR on a saturday night then then I guess they will choose to race somewhere is, I was just trying to get the word out for those that choose to be there.

Yeah it was just too bad that the #5 car owner had to hire a guy to come drive his car for him, how many did he win before that? Things that make you say hmmmm.

That's what French said he wants to experiment with to see if the track has any local support and if not then it wouldn't be LOCAL racing for us to enjoy, and that would hurt in the long run. We take things for granted till they are gone then we wish they were here.

From what I'm seeing that RJ posted this evening it's a limited rules race. Basically no tech, and the rules apply mostly to the tires, carb, and weight. The rules that RJ posted are all that it is to the rules period... I called and asked French and he said the few that are posted are all the rules there are.. All that I can tell ya..

The complaint all year has been having to have the cars teched and now you don't and the only way they will be teched is if they are protested, that should make alot of them happy i would think. jmo

Well me and a few others were on the horn tonight and plan on coming up to have alittle fun. Im hoping to bring my junk, but if i dont we will be coming up to help them. French might be surprised how many cars may show up for superstreet. I know of 4 that havent been there yet, that are now talking about the 25th.

Thats the way I read it to......so the only thing that has changed is the fact that "teched" motors cannot be protested but others can be is that correct? Do you still have to run the schoonfeld mufflers? I may call French sometime today.

You know what they say, if it isn't in the rules then it must be legal. I've checked the newly revised rules on the homepage and they are pretty cut and dry.. Should bring out alot of new comers that haven't got to run there this year..

With the All American class coming back, guys will have a chance to get in on a less expensive budget and hopefully that class will build up to be as strong as the U-Car division. I'm hoping to see some great racing in the mini-stock $500.00 to win race too. Good luck to all the guys.. Thumbs up to French also for having the track very well prepared for every race, and no dust this year so far..

Fireball,
they really have not raced enough to kick up any dust & the track should be easy to keep nice with no racing going on.....
i'm not trying to be mean, just stating the obvious....

You may be right dirtslider, but French went public back in Dec. and said that the sucess of the track was up to the supporters of the track. He didn't try to hide what he paid for the track, nor did he hide what he had left to put in the track. He has lost roughly $3,000.00 a week trying to keep the show going, and was really hoping that the support for the track would be there. As it has turned out the support is not enough to keep it going from week to week therefore he must do whatever he needs to do businesswise to try and have a race when his money allows. He has invested every penny he's got into providing a great place to race, but some still won't support it because it's the wrong night, not enough money, etc. etc. As I've said before we won't miss it till it's gone and we have to drive an hour or two just to watch a race..

I have not personally been to the track yet this year, however what I am gathering from LRC is that he "favors" the sprints that he is involved in and the drivers of other classes feel as if they arent being heard or their questions werent important. I hope everyone involved can come to an agreement and keep another dirt track open for fans and drivers. Negativity all the time cant be a good thing though. Good luck to all involved.

Again with blaming the fans and drivers, some things are never gonna change is it.

Poorboy, i'm sorry you fail to see the point but I'm not blaming fans or drivers.. I'm saying in order for a track (any track) to stay open it has got to have fans and drivers. It's your choice and everyone elses choice to go where they want to, but without a fan and driver base then eventually there's no track. You more than anyone should support the track racin on Sat. nites as the track you support will be running on Fridays, but you still want to keep something stirred up here huh?.Maybe you only like a track when you "feel" like you are running it. Maybe French keeping it a family run track is what's eatin at ya!.

I know, but it would be great to see a good field of cars in all classes on the 25th, like it used to be at the "OAK". The surface is in perfect shape for some good racing, it's a 2 and 3 groove track now.

If or when this track closes it will be no ones fault but the owner-promoter......They are the ones who are solely responsible for filling the stands......and in the case of FMR the owner-promoter are the same.....no one wants to see FMR close...NO ONE....Its a great track....A GREAT TRACK.....Maybe it was more than French could handle, Maybe he is happy just the way it is who knows.......But if he had been someone who cared and wanted more fans and drivers he has had all summer to listen to the majority of us and switch his night and not had the attitude of " I'M FRENCH GRIMES AND ITS GOING TO BE SATURDAY NIGHT OR NO NIGHT" Thats just not a way to conduct business....ANY BUSINESS.

Well I Talked To French And So Far A Late Model Race Isnt Out Of The Picture But Just Not On The 25th Still Cant Get A Purse That He Is Acceptable With He Doesnt Think The Lates Will Bring In The Fans Like I Know They Will But No Real Good Cars Are Gonna Run For Less Than 800 To Win So If Anyone Has A Suggestion Let Me Know How Much Would Yall Run For Just To Get A Race Up There I Had 2 Sponsors That Would Give A Little But Not The Whole Purse Lonnie Included

i know of at least 3 fans that would have been there for a LM race. but your right less than $800 is not gonna cut it. thats a real shame too my wife and i were looking forward to seeing a good race.

Hey Doc.....It may not be a good Idea to have it on the 25th anyway.....I know that neighboring Franklin County Speedway is having a $1,000.00 to win Street Stock race as well as racing in all its other divisions and The Perfomance All Pro Challenge Series out of the Carolina's and also The East Coast Flat Heads......Has anyone tried talking to him about running a Sunday show ? The weather should hopefully be cooling off a little soon and with none of the other 10 or 12 tracks in the area running on Sunday might be a chance to have a good turn out.......Just a thought !

Fireball not trying to stir up nothing that's not already keeps getting stirred. I supported that track thru the years when noone else did. Can't do nuthin about what's going on now just tired of the wrong ones getting blamed that's all. I'm outa here good luck.
