Nathan Balensiefen Wins Modified Battle
Friday was Michlig Agri-Center’s employee and customer appreciation night at Bureau County Speedway. They got to see a smooth racing program on a beautiful cool night.
Nathan Balensiefen picked up his first Modified feature win Friday night at Bureau County Speedway. Ray Bollinger had led every lap until three to go. There was a good contest between Bollinger and Mike Garland in the lead. Bollinger slid up in the crumbs slowing his momentum with just a couple of laps to go. Balensiefen had been watching Bollinger’s line and used the inside to make his move into the lead. Bollinger finished in second ahead of Josh Vinnedge and Mike Garland. Marty Thompson took the lead on lap five but had to go to the pits with a flat tire. He came back up through the field to finish in fifth.
The Late Model program belonged to Rich Bell Friday. He picked up the win in their heat race and the twenty lap feature. Jason Jaggers finished in second and Scotte Lemke in third.
Brandon Maciejewski won his second Street Stock feature. His car was beginning to smoke with three laps to go but he was able to hold Randy Lucas to a second place finish. Jamie Balensiefen finished third followed by Keith Lucas.
Jeff Seitz looked like he had the Hornet feature win in the bag, until his tire fell off with one lap to go. Kyle Fisher took over the lead and took the win. Rob Hammitt finished second and Trent Peterson third. Don Bell, father of the late model feature winner, drove their Hornet to a fourth place finish.
