Finally someone has stepped up at FMR and is trying to do something positive. Darthsirus ,I doubt a person who sits around and complains on this forum all the time did something amazing .He put together a plan approached Mr Grimes acted like an adult and now has the race he wants. What an example he has set for others to follow ! Thank you Darthsirus for caring about FMR and the people of the community.

Lets talk about racing in general , not just FMR , the whole community of motorsports is in a slump right now empty seats everywhere, low car counts everywhere , cars without sponsors ,races without sponsors, drivers without cars , things are diffrent in the economy now and racing is suffering . There are only so many entertainment dollars a
persons can spend now and more times than not it itnt at the local dirt track. On the local scene I believe the LM cars are taking it the worst because of the high cost to build operate and maintain one of these cars. I know of a big track on the eastern shore that only runs these cars on a limited basis now, theres an asphalt track in Richmond that has all but done away with them so its not just FMR its gonna be everywhere .Get on some web sites for tracks and tell me what you thinks going on when your premire division only has ten car.
This forum seems very bitter at the VSS dont know why their racers just like everyone else . I believe they run a 305 and everyone wants to compare them to a 410 or 360 , do the math! Ive seen them run at several different places and their a very professional group who run their show and dont bother anyone. No one seems to mind them when their burning fuel rolling in the track with the big tires when your hanging on the fence watching. I know one thing local legion Satch sure does enjoy his new ride , go ask Satch how hard they push the cars, Im sure he will tell ya straight up.
Please stop just for a minute and think about what Ive said Im pretty sure its close to true . LET THE BASHING BEGIN ! HAS ANYONE SEEN MANNY MANURE ? I guess that big spotlite in Jamacia just hasnt signed so bright on him. Oh just heard that him and Opperman1 are still on the honeymoon!

BOTTOM Everything You Saidseems To Be Rite But What I Was Saying Is That The Crates Up There Sat Night Were Turning Faster Times Seems Funny They Were Faster Ive Seen These Cars 2 Times At Fmr 1 Time Last Year And 1 Time This Year You Are Rite When Saying Car Count Is Getting Low But Also I Look At Other Tracks That Have More Than A Full Feild Of Cars And The Stands Be Close To Full Look At Clarys They Have A Decent Car Count But They Are Dropping Candy For The Kids They Have Special Trophys For The Late Models And I Bet The Crowd Is Their It Has Been Everytime Ive Been Their Bulls Gap In Tn Always Keeps A Good Feild Of Cars But Around Here The Tracks Are Just Not Behind The Late Models Or The Local Tracks For 1 Reason Or Another Track Owners Making People Mad Or Changing Nites Or Jst Losing Business Sponsors I Have At Least Been Trying To Help Out A Track That Is 80 Miles From Where I Live Cause I Like That Track Always Have Just Dont Understand Why Some People Have To Dump Screws Or Cut Scales Wires Or Just Try To Sabotage Tracks We All Have To Get Together And Support Any Local Track We Can To Keep All The Racing Going Not Just Late Models But All Of The Cars Im Not A Big Asphalt Fan But It Is Racing I Just Have My Own Opinion On This Topic

Stopping to think a minute about what Bottom Dweller said.......First and foremost I am a fan.....not a team owner, driver, promoter,or sponsor....I'm not meaning no disrespect in what i'm about to say in no way, and also I try to attend LOCAL races instead of going to shows on the eastern coast as well as Richmond.......sure Franklin County Speedway had not done good till this year.....BUT with the new promoter just look at the last couple races.....easily 4,000 + people there.......the same for Motor Mile plenty of people there as well as 25 - 35 Late Model everytime they race....Bowman Gray on some nights have as many as 17,000 fans........ Racing around here is what the owners and promoters make of it.....If you don't try to accomodate your fans and drivers what you get is what FMR has turned into.....Look at what it used to be.....It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.....BUT on the other hand I want to agree that drivers like Doc need to be thanked as well as local businessmen like Lonnie need to be commendded for attempting to make racing better at FMR......and the last thing I'd like to say is as a fan yes it would be great if all we had to do is come to Local Race Chat and talk about racing.......But until things change it is what it is...... Remember.....I'm just a local race fan who would love to see local racing at this track the way it USED to be.

Good job DarthSirus on the race date. Thanks for pointing out the right way to approach Mr. Grimes, Bottom D. French is more than happy to sit down, and talk to anyone with a plan, and DarthSirus got his plan together, and presented it in an adult manner, and got what he was looking for. I agree with the present state of the small local tracks also. Just doesn't matter what you run. The tracks are all in a struggle for the fans, and competitors. The average family is not going out like they used to. The money is not there like "back in the day". But it is a new day with new challenges, and sitting around complaining, and wishing things were the way they were is not getting the J O B done! Again, good job Darthsirus. Hope others can learn from you example. Oh, and Bottom Dweller, some claim they saw the honeymooners at the VSS trailer buying T shirts Saturday night!
