guys that can't race on dirt go to FCS....$500 is an insult to other tracks......seems it's just a way to hurt other tracks so FCS can get ALL the business...

Well I guess thats one way to look at it......when a track is within 15 minutes of another one......I guess the fans and drivers go where they get the best bang for their buck........But then again if OLR was a Friday night race people in this local market would be able to go to both possibly. FCS is not hurting the other tracks......always has run on Saturday nights .....always will......someone switching their racing date to their closet competitor is the only thing hurting OLR......doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.How does that saying go Dirtslider......If you can't run with the big dogs you better change your date....I miss racing at OLR.....but the racing at FCS is the best its been in 15 - 20 years.....Good Luck everyone Saturday night where ever you race.
Also congratulations to Dennis Sloan on his strong run on July 3rd at FCS......and Good Luck this Saturday night in the 100 lap 1000.00 to win Mod4 race

you may be right but the "sight lines" at FCS are horrible......you can't see half the track for all the crap in the infield....now i know why French cleared the infield so all the fans can enjoy the race....i'd much rahter go to OLR/FMR to watch a race than go to FCS and watch the guys who can't run on dirt....the drivers at Oak/FM are real drivers that don't have the nice shinny cars with sponsers writing them checks every week....these guys might be scraping by with their cars but they get more respect out of fans for their effort than the "pretty boys" at FCS that think they are Earnhardt & Gordon..

Mike it seems that you are more than eager to post on FMR forums about another track and their payout to try and help that track too, why not post on FCS forums and find out why the tracks can't work together, the guy who's promoting FCS was on a local TV show last Mon nite and said he had no intentions of "working" with French, so maybe you should just keep on taking your car to the other track(s) and let the two tracks handle it however they see that makes the racing work. It's just really a shame the amount of time and money that has been put into providing a perfect racing surface for the local guys at FMR and everyone has to worry about a payout. French has said many times, if he had gotten the support that he thought was gona be there he wouldn't need to run the VSS guys every race, but you have to give fans a decent field of cars to watch race, and that's just not happenin with any class but the U- cars, but we never "miss" a track til it's gone, huh? Imagine what the car counts could be if we put aside the payout delima and just came out to race and have a good time, like it used to be.. jmo

fireball,
if you have a problem with me thats fine. i just thought it was kinda bad for fcs to schedule their race the same weekend. as far as me posting about another tracks purse, i would be willing to bet every u-car driver on this side of the state knew about that.
and i don't have a race car i'm just one of those spectators. you know the ones that pay the bills. if i did have a car fcs would be about the last place i would go.

Well Dirtslider I'm glad we halfway agreed on that........personally I don't think there is a bad seat at FCS as long as you get there early enough to get in the top 4 rows........as far as the drivers......well I know that there is a bunch that race at FCS every saturday night that used to be OLR drivers....You know....if FMR was racing EVERY friday night I doubt we would even be having this discussion.......we would probably be talking about how good the race was......or who done what to who.......If we the fans of OLR should be upset with anyone it should be French Grimes......for taking away our EVERY friday night home and just racing whenever he wants to.....I'm just wondering what his plan is to regain all of the local businesses around heres trust who sponsor the OLR cars......I guess everyone came up losers at FMR this year.

I was in the top row July 3rd and i still could not see the other side of the track....Glad we agree and disagree without arguing every post....I'm just a OLR/FMR diehard and always will be.....Just hope he keeps the track going......I'll watch any class on dirt...It's the best racing there is.

maybe french should learn from fcs.thats why they have car count and fans.
they pay more money and not race for practically nothing.these guys have alot of money in cars and many need winnings to help with costs of racing.yes its fun but these days you gotta have money to have fun.yes french has a awesome track but he needs to run fridays period..he would get more fans and car count.thats why all the other classes dont have car count.french listen to your fans and drivers and they will come...quit the bs and listen....us rednecks are smarter than you think we are..

i told him before the schedule was ever made, he needs to stay on fridays.
my opinions:
1. the day changed for racing hurt.
2. deciding against running late models weekly hurt.
3.even changing the name from Oak Level Raceway hurt.
me personally, changing the ucar rules a week before the season start was wrong. i went to the meetings and we ALL voted on the rules, then he changes them against what was voted on by the
drivers?!?!?!?!?!
the Late Model issue about "too much purse, not enough fans" well Rolling Thunder Raceway meeting with the drivers/owners had a successful outcome with a reasonable purse, why can't French have a meeting and reason with the Late's. They will understand a paycut.

Ya know, i think its funny, some of these people used to say how much they hated ucars and didnt even care if they were at the track......Now the argument is about them leaving for another track...

jimmy mullins kevin smith kevin parker dennis sloan jr all race at fcs and from what i recall jimmy mullins and kevin smith kicked butt at olr last year and what are you talking about sight lines? fcs is a track where many of the nascar stars of the past started please grow up as far as fcs being the last place you would go i am sure of that because it takes a real driver to drive that track the modifieds will be in th 12second range this weekend i am sure that would scare you to death .also the purse fmr is paying is the same as a regular race at fcs so i dont think it would have gained them any drivers but with all this said we dont criticize dirt drivers like the people on here are us and as far as fcs drivers being "pretty"...I don't think so! Jimmy Mullins is far from being a pretty boy, call him what you called the drivers on here to his face! Jimmy came off dirt, and does a great job at it.

Just a few more names to add to the Pretty Boy List at FCS...
Mike Porter from West Virginia ran there Sat. night...REAL pretty boy, huh
oh yeah, Melvin Smith, 86 years old, Calvin Brooks, another dirt racer!
See and meet the drivers before you judge anybody. It's not FCS fault OLR did not stick to Friday nights, they should not have to plan their races around someone who chose to change. OLR was a great track but they have really screwed things up down there, but like I said before that is not FCS fault! If OLR would race friday nights, I would be there, had to go to North Carolina Sat. night to watch a race, ON DIRT, and loved it!

I'm telling you.....EVERYONE(the fans, the sponsors, the drivers, and the owner) will come out a winner if OLR went back to racing on Fridays......Look at the tracks within a 2 hour radius of OLR that runs on Saturday night( FCS,311,Wythe,Natural Bridge,Caraway,Bowman Gray,MMS) I'm probably missing some others........and the the only Friday night show around is at Ace......Maybe this is French's write off year with the IRS for having a bad opening year......Friday nights worked very well for the Mason family years ago.....I know it might be hard for some people to make it on Friday nights....If you got off at 5pm you would have 3 hours to get to a 8 pm race starting time.

driver10, the only reason Mullins won the last race was they were counting caution laps,,,everybody knows he was about to get passed on both the last cautions,,Smith is outclassed at fcs & Parker is a joke.....i guess if you can't drive on dirt then go to pavement?...ahahahah :ak47:

OK..first things first, last I checked I was not a boy, I was a girl, but anyway, first off Jimmy Mullins has raced dirt and also if I recall correctly has a championship on dirt, he may have got passed during that race, but the drivers were told caution laps were going to be counted, if that was an issue that should have taken that up with Richard before the race started, not after. And also, if I recall correctly again, Jimmy has more than one win at FCS this year, not bad, and I would think for someone who is obsessed over dirt track racing you would be one of the last on here bashing Jimmy Mullins! Jimmy drives his butt off and has earned every win he has got! I think your real issue is with French Grimes, not FCS! FCS has raced Sat. nights for how many years??? If OLR had stayed the same, stayed on Friday nights I guarantee there would be cars and fans there, I would be there...but look at the schedule on the site...what kind of racing schedule is that??? I have been going to FCS for years, and I have seen some drivers come and go from asphault to dirt and back again, I don't think it means somebody can't handle dirt track racing, it's what you prefer. Do you race?? I don't believe so or otherwise you would not come on here with this negative childish attitude. Kevin Smith done awesome on dirt as well! Sitting on here bashing drivers is absolutely no way to improve anything. Calling the drivers pretty boys..come one...have you seen some of the guys that race at FCS??? They are far from being pretty boys. I know alot of the drivers down there in those pits, and that is far from being what I would classify them as. Now if you want to talk MMS..then we can talk pretty boys!
OLR was an awesome track to be, until this year, I was there on Friday nights and loved it, but it seems there are some issues with French, and nobody wants to offer suggestions, so I WILL...Mr. Grimes, if you read my email, let me offer you words of advice, go back to Friday nights, your cars and fans will return, do not change ANY rules during the season, work on getting your sponsors back and I promise, you do it right, you will succeed!! And a few words to you "Mr. Dirtslider" until you have a car don't judge, he that judges shall also be judged! So take a break from the forum, see if you can collect your thoughts and maybe try to grow up some and see if your mama can wash that filthy mouth out for you also!

Very...very well spoken Ms. Driver10 :05Cool:, French Grimes has brought all of this on us......he took weekly racing away from us, he switched the race nite to Saturday(God only knows which Saturdays) and is the sole reason FMR is all but a memory....he has divided us the fans who supported OLR for years and years....And the saddest thing about it is sounds to me he is not one bit worried about it,I know all of the prior owners and promoters use to keep us the fans aware of what was going on at OLR in our local news papers......even during the off season.....And the saddest thing is people used to think Whitey was bad......to me personally this guy takes the cake......who knows is FMR will ever prosper as it did in the past.....the one thing is for sure is that we have alot of fans that want it to.....and an owner who doesn't have a clue !!!! I saw in another post where DOCCALLAHAN is trying to get together a group of Late Models to run at FMR and as a fan I appreciate that and wish him all of the best !!!!

Thank you RACEFACE, I am glad someone agrees with me on here. Hopefully French will get word of all these messages and take notes, but like you said it does not seem he is to worried about it. You don't know how many times I have thought the same thing about how people think of Whitey...this guy does take the cake! I am glad you agree on that as well! I just think it's bad that people are bashing these drivers. What have they done??? I think someone referred to the track as being a tax write off for MR. Grimes, I must say I agree with that as well! I miss the racing at OLR..it was awesome when the cars were there, and the late models...that is what people want to see...it's just a shame they are having to drive miles away and some going over the state line just to race!! Waste of a great track if you ask me!

You know "MR DIRTSLIME" it's a shame you can't act your age of 41 as it shows on your profile...it's more like 4, so with that being said, no I don't wear a 58 shirt but I may get one. You can find me in turn 1 in the stands, I will have it on so look for me if you ever show your chicken *** up there again. The only thing mooing on here is your pansy ***!!! And frankly I don't think to many people on here really care what you have to say because it's evident you haven't a clue just like French Grimes. ONE MORE THING...AS I RECALL...YOU ARE A CHICKEN **** &%$#@!% because it is so easy to hide behind a keyboard and run that mouth!

French is an ok guy , you seem not to like him for some reason....It's going to take some time for the track to get where he wants it to be......If i have to watch Sprints every time he runs then so be it......I'll do what i can to help him out...And no i don't agree with everything he does, you seem to think he should kiss every local driver and fans a##.....That's not going to happen, work with the man and learn not to criticize everything he does...Oh and BTW , they are #58 shirts not size 58 so you couldn't wear one...:anima40:
