To ***** The Track Owner,

There was very good racing tonight but dern it was dusty as crap and all those holes in the track. I mean I know im at a dirt track but at least I want to be able to see a good race with no grit in my teeth and eyes. Plus you have good people like Richard Childress who wants his grandson to run at 311 and the good ol Clint Bowyer who wants to run there sometimes man you should respect them and fix the freakin holes instead of tearing up their cars! You want these people to come back because these people are who gets your fans at the track so that you can pay them! And man, have you ever heard of capsom chloride and water dude? use it... ill tell you it makes the track sticky and less dusty! :BustinAss: Use your thinking skills!

yes sir, richard childress was there he flew in on a helicopter and the track owner ***** went outside the track and got richard childress in the track truck and took him to the pits. the girls from austins crew also went out with the 4-wheeler to get the other crew member who also arrived in the helicopter.

He Is Stupid , If He Did Not Have Track In Top Notch Condition Tonight! Any One Have Race Results At 311 Tonight? I Had To Work!!

I always heard that you take a corn field and make a race track out of it. But it looked tonight like Bobby Johns was trying to take a race track and make it into a corn field. I means all the runts and holes in the track. It looked to me a fan in the stands like the drivers were having to battle the track more than they were battling each other.

I heard Bobby Johns say something like he wanted to try and get more NASCAR drivers to come down to the track. If he keeps up prepping the track this bad word will get around very quickly and there will be little to no way they will show up.

At least some people agree with me about the tracks conditions last night. I mean it dont make no sense. If he wants nascar drivers back he best be doing a little math to see what he can do to get the track lookin a little better. Them boys aint going to keep coming out to 311 if all they ride on is holes. It tears their front ends all to pieces hitting those holes. I had a good time last night other than having to fight the dust myself. I think the fans were fighting more dust than the drivers last night. :-(

I do not know who was having chest pains but it looked to be pretty serious. A first responder and 3 ambulances with the police bringing them in and out. Whoever it was I hope that they are okay though.

1st time at 311 for me, not my 1st rodeo, weekly habit in TX before I moved to NC. On the plus side ***** took time to thank the people in line coming in. His draw of 30 cars and the track layout was awesome. The fan all around me were very friendly...

That said, the track prep was sad indeed... If you can afford the equipment to prep the track, at least pack it (run the cars backwards before hot laps)

second, get a cone for the restarts, Many drivers in the back were jumping the restart buy cutting way inside and passing, this caused a mess on the front streach and way too many yellow flags.

Lastly, I saw a ton of very young kids running around in the Pits during the Super LM race ..... THIS IS A NO NO NO , There is nothing worst as a end result of this. STOP THIS NOW.

Fix it for Childress? How about fixing it for the old lady setting in the stands
eating dirty naochos and drinking muddy soda?

I agree with what you have said here. Maybe one day someone will take some of us fans advice about things.

No matter how much you get the dust down, there will ALWAYS be some dirt flying. I dont like alot of dust nomore than the next guy, but a lil dirt in your beer or soda now that there is some flavor. Then again there is always asphalt racing.

Got to agree with everybody on the dust. He's needs to quit using the water hose and use the water truck. He had someone prepare the track when Austin Dillon set the track record and it looked awesome, wonder why he dosen't use them again? Will have to say it was a good field of cars and even with the poor track prep. it was pretty good racing, but it was the first time this year at the track for 3 of the people that came with me. They said they would rather not come back because they couldn't stand eating all that dust.Wish someone that cared a little about the fans would buy the track.

I missed the race last night since I am in Florida. I usually stay out of the bashing threads.

I can say that when we went to Volusia 6/30 the track made me feel at home at first .. See http://www.localracechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26485

but then they did something that was totally foreign to me.. They pulled out these amazing water trucks and then packing equipment. Not cars.. one was a John Deer pulling a contraption of 4 rows of 4 wheels with heavy weights on tops, the other was a big rig with huge tires.

I was impressed with Volusia for the second time. We went last year and it was awesome as well.

I enjoy the race and I love dirt track racing and i expect a little bit of dust but damn you couldnt even see for the dust getting in your eyes. It was no sense in the track being like that. We paid 40 bucks and I didnt go to see dirt if i wanted to see that I would have stayed at home and slung the truck around to see dirt dust and mud fly. And If he has another job he still needs to start monday to saturday and work on that track maybe not everyday but it should look better than it did last night.

I don't want my 1st post to come out looking like I'm a track basher, 311 has something good going. I wished I lived closer I would be a regular for sure.

In my former neck of the woods (Dallas area) there were plenty of Have and have not dirt tracks. Devils Bowl and TheDirt track at Texas motor speedway had more equiptment than a local John Deere dealer. But there were plenty of tracks that had to do it the old school way, they would dig/plow the track after the race, water it then. Before the race (if you don't want to start shotgun in your heat race) you were required to pack the track in reverse.
direction. Some night even fans with 4 wheel drives were recurited to help.
The whole track, all groves up close to the fence were run in. The water truck on race night is used for the fans durning breaks in actions. I saw Tony Steward do this durning the prelude to the dreams, under the pressure of an HBO schedule, he stoped held up the race for the sake of HIS FAN.

I beg to differ on the ashphalt being cleaner point made earlier. On a short track "Quick dry" used for an liquid spill covers all fans. A dirt track prepared right can be a place you take your sensitive family members.

A great track, awsome field and very nice fans deserve better.

if it is done right then very little dirt would be in the fans eyes take a look at Wythe it is never dusty but then again they take care of the track too.

Hey Crash 336, if you liked 311 it would be worth your time to go to Wythe Raceway and watch a race. That in my opinion is one of the best tracks around and it is run well also. Don't know where you live but if you can check it out, I think you would like it.

well i think there was some good racing last saturday night.. but he needs to give the supers more time to get ready its not easy changing these cars when you only have 2 people with you.. i also know that there was some new drivers there and i know they did not like the way they had 3 wide restarts.. poor old stovall kept getting spun out bc of someone else..theres needs to be a rule about that.. it was not even his falt.. and in every divers meeting they need to go over where you start and and who starts the race...just the lil things.. i have never been to a track where you start 3 wide. and a gut comes from 10th to 5th just on a restart

and he dont need to be making changes for all these big guys. he needs to be doing in for in every week drivers... bc that tells them when he comes over the intercom and say lets support childress or someone else he needs to be supporting his every weekend fans/drivers.. bc if you have a family like mine it was 250$ just to get in the pits everyweekend:( thats where he is making his money

Everybody been bashing ***** and 311 for 2 years and the pits and stands are still full. This is nothing new here. But everybody keeps going. ***** sounds a heck of a lot smarter than all of you to me. I go to 311 10 times a year. But I haven't been there since april of 06. I went to one lousy show and until I read online that things have changed I'm not riding up there and spending a nickle. I've read on here about the lousy track conditions all year so why are y'all surprised? He was timing the cars with a stopwatch all year too. Is he still doing that? Maybe someone from the Childress organization will buy the track and pave it then you won't get any dust in your eyes. I have a little news flash for you dirt tracks are dusty in July so if you don't want to get dirty stay home. This time of year the track is dusty. Racetrack has not been the same since Jaybird brought the new clay in there in 05. Surface has sucked ever since. And by the way it's calcium chloride they put on a track to hold in moisture. The only way to keep it wet this time of year is to wet it every day so the moisture soaks in and gets down in the tracks base. But I don't think it will help this clay cause every time the get enough water on it is is rough as a plowed field. Look around up there it sure looks like ***** is broke and doesn't have the money to operate the track much less fix anything. If enough of you stay home (cars and fans) for these SLM series races ***** will be gone cause he sure doesn't make any money at a weekly show. Childress people would love to own 311 but you can rest assured if they get it the asphalt goes down immediately. I don't care who runs the track but I want it to stay dirt. And if ***** is as broke as he appears to be he needs to let someone have it that can afford to run it and keep it up. Maybe then the scorebard will be fixed, new timing equipment can be purchased, and RE radios purchased. As long as he keeps packing the house for the SLM races he buys himself some extra time. I'm as mad at the way things are done at 311 as anyone but I voice my opinion the loudest when I stay home and not spend my money there.

Amen sorrycharlie. I've been about 2 or 3 times all year and everytime you hear a newer and bigger lie. Last time I was there he told the crates they would run there own division and ther would be a engine claimer rule for $6,000. The funny thing is that Modern Chevrolet had their guys there telling the drivers they could get them a 604 crate for around $5,000. I heard from some people that Sat. night that he challenged Richard Childress to bring his Cup cars to 311 to run and he would provide the tires. What a MORON! Just like you said this jerk is trying to make a quick fortune anyway possible just to stay around. Can't afford to fix the pack cars, can't afford the fuel for the water truck, can't afford to pay help to fix the track, and the biggest thing is he doesn't know how to do any of these things. All the people that worked for Jerry and Jaybird that knew how to run the track are now all gone. But to listen to Bobby tell it and read the newspaper article he put in the local paper, he knows everything and Jerry and Jaybird were the fools. This guy is such a jerk it is not even funny. It takes more than just a name to run a racetrack and be successful.
