The scales definately need to be calibrated at Clary's. The whole year they have been off anywhere from 50 to 120 lbs. Everybody in the psv8 class was told they were light and if we came back next week we would have to be right by the scales at Clary's or we would be thrown out. Well If I add another 100 lbs. to my car I would be rolling in at the track about 3300 lbs. and that is a heavy car and also unsafe if it gets involved in a wreck with that heavy of a car it could get someone seriously hurt. I for 1 don't want that to happen to me again. I think the remedy would be to calibrate the scales instead of us adding even more weight. The scales don't seem to give false readings until it reaches about 3000 lbs. Something needs to be done .

This is true VERY TRUE!. I race at CLR on saturdays when it doesnt get rained out. My scales at home & at CLR show my car weighs 3285 full of gas. I went to Clarys a few weeks ago & they said my car weighed only 3145. I'm thinking if 2 out of 3 scales show the same thing & the other one shows 140 lbs under weight. Its not hard to know which one is wrong.

There needs to be a shelter over the scales. They are wood and wood holds water. Be it from the sky, the water truck or the water hose. Plus all the dry dirt & wet clay from the track that has fallen on, under & in the cracks which means a false reading. Before anyone says anything I KNOW ricky said his car showes LIGHT & everything I have posted means the car would be HEAVY. POINT IS either way there are things that can make a scale read wrong . SCALES NEED TO BE CHECKED ONCE A YEAR when another mans money is on the line.

Last year they had a problem with water under the scales. Need to check that as well. I was light last year when that happened along with alot of other drivers. Just a bit of info to add.

I guess everyone at the track that was complaining would rather keep adding weight. All the psv8 will be throwed out this weekend or add a lot of weight.

doug knows about this problem from the start of the season.. my car weight 3080 and at the track it weight 2900 but every week it weight different---i think the track will work with us until the scale get fix---i hope. i do get tickle sometime about problems we face at a race track and a lot of them shouldnt be a problem but ???????????...a smooth run race track is like a massage---it just feel good....thanks goes out to the masseur and the masseuse for what they are doing to give us a race track to race at and keep working on the body...:dirt_race:

I agree with u Buddy that Doug knows its a problem, but whoever the new tech man is out there told us when we crossed the scales this coming Sat that if we won't over our weight that we were going to be DQ.I wouldn't worry about it if it was 30 or 40 lbs. but some cars are showing 150 to 180 lbs. light.Depending on what class they are running. The scales don't read right after about 2800 lbs.

I wish someone from the track will give us a answer on this matter.

still nothing? weighted the car at the shop today and with a half a tank of fuel we weighed 3200lbs! hope they give a little room for weight. when we add gas that will bring it up along with mud so i hope it is good enough.

I think the biggest issue is the placement of the car on the scale............It seems to me if the car is more forward on the scales it is light, back further it is heavy...............
I think they need to get someone there that can take the time, weigh a car that is over 3200 lbs then position it on the scale to match, calabrate them then paint a line where to stop.
I watched them weigh 4 different cars...........One was right on with what they said, one was 70 lbs light, one was 150 lbs light, one was 175 lbs light......

that is true different positions on the scale make a difference. at dms at the beginning of the year i went across the scales and it said i was light i backed up and moved over to the left farther and it was right and havent had any problems since.
