FASTRAK RACING SERIES BATTLES AT BULLS GAP, TN SATURDAY
$5,000 to-win National Event at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, TN…The FASTRAK Late Model Racing Series will compete this Saturday, June 30 at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee for the running of the "Third Annual Crate Late Model Blowout at The Gap" presented by the Rusty Wallace Auto Group. The National event will pay $5,000-to-win, $250-to-start. Thus far there have been nine different winners in nine events in FASTRAK Southern Touring Series competition.
FASTRAK Late Model drivers from all around the South are expected to invade East Tennessee to take on the always tough home-standing Volunteer Speedway regulars. With the event at "The Gap" being a Fastrak national points show, out-of-state invaders possibly expected include 2006 FASTRAK National Champion Steve "HotRod" LaMance of Six Mile, S.C., Jack Pennington (member of Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame) of Winston, Ga., William Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., Kenny Peeples of Rural Retreat, Va., Lee Cooper of Greer, S.C., David McCoy of Franklin, N.C., Frankie Beard of Hartwell, Ga., John Pursley of Clover, S.C., Chase McCormick of Dobson, N.C., Chris Chandler of Weaverville, N.C., Jordy Nipper of Gray, Ga., Timbo Mangum of Lancaster, S.C., Travis Pennington of Winston, Ga., Shan Smith of Dade City, Fla., Vic Chandler of Weaverville, N.C., Anthony Meadows of Lanett, Ala., J.J. Nye of Ballground, Ga., Jody Knowles of Tyrone, Ga., Jason Lawrence of Pilot, Va., Ty Lowe of Commerce, Ga., plus many more.
The Young Gun competitors of the FASTRAK Racing Series include talented teen drivers Chris Ferguson, Travis Pennington and Austin Dillon. Dillon, who won the FASTRAK National event at The Dirt Track of Lowe’s Motor Speedway in May, is the grandson of championship NASCAR team-owner Richard Childress and is headed to Bulls Gap for this weekend's highly competitive event.
Leading the Volunteer Speedway locals looking to defend their home-turf is current Late Model points leader Bobby Mays of Jonesborough, who's already visited victory lane on two occasions this year; Shanon Buckingham of Morristown, a three-time winner in 2007; along with 2006 track champion Warren McMahan of Dandridge. Others expected to be in action include Shane Roberts of Bluff City, Jensen Ford of Johnson City, Jerry Broyles and Kelly Glass, both from Jonesborough; Allen Champ, Logan Hickey and Tony Trent, all from Morristown; Brad Kenyon of Chuckey, Greg Burchett of Church Hill, John King Jr. of Kingsport, Todd Brooks of Greeneville, Josh Henry of Newport, Ricky Moore of Mosheim, James Cole of Sevierville, John "The Wildcat" Llewellyn of Knoxville, Van Lester of Dandridge, plus several others.
"Drivers with the Series have been anticipating this National Touring Event at Volunteer Speedway for some time and have had it marked on their calendar," stated FASTRAK Racing's Stan Lester. "The guys have a really good purse to run for this coming weekend. But more importantly the drivers want to get track time under their belt in preparation for the series' huge season finale slated later this fall. The whole season, where racers' from all around the country have been competing for series points, will culminate at 'The Gap' in October. What drivers will walk away with the FASTRAK Racing Series points fund money ($350,000) in their pockets and who will be crowned National Champion will be determined in East Tennessee."
Also racing will be the "Gateway Ford" Super Late Models, "Rusty Wallace Toyota" Hobby Stocks and "Century 21 Masengill-McCrary Realtors" Mini Stocks.
Time trials, heats, and last chance consolations are scheduled for the FASTRAK Racing Series Late Models, with the night's racing program highlighted by the $5,000-to-win main event. Prior to the start of the feature the drivers' in the field will participate in the cash tennis ball toss into the grandstands.

The pit gate will open on Saturday at 4 p.m. and the grandstand gate opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are tentatively slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., to be followed immediately by qualifying and racing action to follow once time-trials finish. Adult grandstand admission is $15, children 6-12 $5, with 5-and-under admitted free. Pit passes and backside tier-parking $30 per person for any age.
***NOTE: There will be an open practice night on Friday, June 29 scheduled from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. for all competitors. The pit gate will open Friday evening at 5 o'clock. Pit admission will be $25, and for fans who wish to watch from the grandstands there will be no charge.
