I wish French would race on Friday nights for a few weeks. I would love to come check the new place out. My Saturday nights are booked up at 311 Speedway for awhile. FRENCH try 2 or 3 Friday night races and I will come see yall. The track was racey last year when David had it. But I've heard alot of good things come from fans and drivers this year about the new surface.

that seems to be the problem.....fridays would be much better with car counts up and fan counts up......somebody needs to WAKEUP!!!!!!

if french raced on fridays, he would lose just as many cars as he would gain. some of the racers have to work on fridays and wouldn't make it to the track.

I really would like to see Fork Mountain go back to racing on Friday Nights......Back in the day not only were the stands full......but the track was also full of cars........but who am I ????? Wait, we are the ones who pay admission to the track, buys a couple hot dogs and a soda, which allows the owner-promoter to pay the drivers and bills, and does business with the people who sponsor the race and the race cars, which allows them to put more money in the drivers cars and do more at the track.........I guess the new owner is happy with running on Saturday nights......whenever he wants to.......but whatever happened to the day where the owners-promoters cared about the Local race fan........Just the thoughts of a LOCAL racefan who misses the goodtimes from the past at THIS racetrack !!!!!

Hello....As a local racefan who has attended many races at Oak Level Raceway I would like to start this thread as a simple survey for the FANS and DRIVERS of Fork Mountain Raceway........Please keep it simple, Just reply either FRIDAYS if you would attend more races on Friday Nights at FMR or SATURDAYS if you would attend more Saturday night events at FMR. At least Mr Grimes will know what night the most people would attend !!!!!!

In order for this poll to work everyone needs to encourage everyone they can to vote.. If they are not a member here tell them to register and VOTE!! This is a chance for you to be heard.. I am not saying it will guarantee a Fri night race but the numbers will show who's interested..

Would you really want to sit out in the 90-100 degree weather for 3-5 hours at the races on a SUNDAY???? People be realistic....I started this survey-poll to hopefully show the promoter that by going back to Fridays nights his track would prosper.....and hopefully save another LOCAL racetrack which year after year are becoming a dying breed.......This place used to be PACKED with Fans and Racers on Friday nights.......every Friday night !!!!!

All guests votes have been stripped from the poll.. In order to have a more valid result you must be registered to vote and anyone caught trying to register a 2nd account and vote twice will be removed from the poll..

french has said no fridays ever as long as he owns the track...everyone mostly wants to race on fridays but he is sticking to his guns...we try to work with him with no success.maybe he will come around because what i hear is that all the pure stock cars aren;tshowing up anymore...

Well I think it would be a very poor business decision for Mr Grimes NOT to listen to his customers and the people who patronage the sponsors of the race cars(us the fans and drivers).....Thats why I started this poll, I don't know if he ever used to come to The Oak on Friday's.....but the place rocked.....I'm hoping he reads the poll at least and sees that the majority of us will gladly come to the races on Friday......I really don't see how he is making any money with the track closed all the time, which is the last thing any of us want to see.

I think maybe Ray Tucker, Gary Mabe, Johnny Stovall, Bubba Magee, Jeff Young, and all the others putting on the show was what rocked at OLR. It wasn't the Friday night part.

Hate to bust your bubbles but if you look back to the last 2 or 3 seasons this track has been running the fan attendance has not been that great. It has been going downhill for a long time not just this year. There has been so much damage done that it doesn't matter what night you run on. He is not going to run on friday's according to the way he feels right now. Last year was average car counts but the fans were still not there on a regular basis. 10 or 15 people on here does not make a track run. It is going to take someone with deep pockets to be able to go in and be able to turn this thing around. Someone that can lose money for a year or two and try to fix what has been done. That is the way I see it and I don't think I'm far off. Just look back at the history.

The Reason Fan And Car Attendance Was Falling Off Severly Is The Last 2 Owners Didnt Care About The Fans Or Driver/owners These People Are Not Stupid It Doesnt Matter What Nite He Runs On He Can Fill The Stands And Pits Gotta Give The Man Time To Find Help On The Purses He Has Some Good Ideas Just Like Rolling Thunder Which As Soon As It Opens Will Be On Friday Nite Then French Could Run On Sat And Both Tracks Get Together And Offer A Bonus To Win Both Tracks In A Weekend Like Ace And 311 Or Rainbow Used To Do Back In The Day Alot Of Sponsors Have Gotten Their Belly Full Of People That Dont Hold True To What Got Them The Sponsor To Start With And The Sponsors Dont Wanna Help Anybody After That And Who Could Blame Them ...sorry For A Book But Thats Just My Opinion It Takes Alot Of Work And French Explained That He Could Only Get Cheap Help On Sat In His Meetings That Is Why He Went To Sat Nites I Understand His Point Who Else Is Gonna Go Up There On Fri All Day Just To Work The Track Every Week Take A Day Off Work ??yea Rite Just Need O Support All The Local Tracks That Are Willing To Enforce Rules And Give A Decent Place To Run Not Like At A Dust Bowl With An Ownr Trying To Stick It To Everybody I Was At Fayeteville Last Fri Nite And They Had A Killer Crowd Yea It Was A Big Race But They Had One! No Chance Of That Round Here Im Fixn To Start Running Again And I Will Go Wherever I Get Treated Rite And Have The Most Fun At Which Was Oak Level I Have Also Talked With Several Drivers And They Would Be Willing To Race At Fork Mountian If He Paid At Least 800 To Win I Know That For Sure Lets See How Many Others Would Be Willing To Race There Come On Guys Lets Get A Race At Fork Mountain I Know Someone Is Willing To Sponsor This Just To See Late Models Up There Again Mabe Even Jeff Young Will Show Up Thats Why He Quit Coming No Balls To Enforce The Rule Book

"10 or 15 people on here does not make a track run". True, this probably isn't a good sample, but unfortunately it's the only readily available feedback forum. These polls might work better if run from the Fork Mountain website. The sample might be larger and, at least, fans and participants would feel that the track was really making an effort to seek their opinions.

To RACEJUNKIE and POORBOY 44 and BIGKID-
if for some reason, French switches to fridays, would Rolling Thunder Raceway ever think of running sundays. afternoon or evening?
if anyone running dirt decides to be bold, they can run 3 days like in northeast or midwest.
even saturday asphalt franklin county speedway boys may run FMR on fridays and Rolling Thunder Raceway on sundays.:icon_metal:
I don't see French switching dates, but RACEJUNKIE u are inside news source. and POORBOY44 u are a driver"s inside source. and BIGKID u are a RTR track inside source.

Good idea bigwheel, Fridays always has been olr now fmr race nights, so since rtr hasn't opened yet it would be easier for them to start out on Sundays huh? Course I really don't think they are that eager to work with FMR, just my opinion.:smashfreakB:

I'm sure Bigkid will input on this later also but here is the deal, I helped organize the meeting at the beginning and then where I am going to drive I have steeped out after all the initial stuff was done. That was the big reason we are doing Friday's was because everybody else was doing Saturday's. We both told Gary if he was gonna make it around here he had to run Friday. Now it would not be fair for us to switch to Sat. Or Sunday just because another track is struggling and we haven't even run the first race yet to know what we are gonna have. From my stand point Sunday's has been kicked around on here but there is no way I'm going to a race track and run on Sunday because I have to get up at and leave at 4 in the morning and sunday is my day to go to church and take off and rest for a day. Don't think that we don't want to work with FMR but we have already done the ground work and the rules etc. are set. Now if French wants to work together on some kinda bonus deal to run both tracks he needs to find out what the drivers wants to do and talk to Gary. They don't want to see anyone fail but he has to do what is best for him because you never know what's gonna happen in this business. I hope French works this thing out and finds a solution. I think someone said he doesn't want sopnsors until he gets every thing going if this source is right but hed needs to try to do something to get the purses up and run more than once a month JMO. I know he doesn't have resources to lose every night so he needs help. It's going to take everybody to work together, I am going to run when I can up there because I do like the track.

I talked to French before the season ever started and ask him what night FMR was going to race. He told me Saturday, because of several reasons, and that he probably couldn't change nights during the year. So RTR went to Friday nights so we wouldn't be interfering with FMR. I respect French for upholding to this. I really don't think it would hurt FMR if French did go to Fridays because we are still over a hour away and a lot of our cars will be out of N.C. area, plus LM and Crate LM , and our SS cars have different rules than FMR. I also don't think FMR going to Friday nights will help them at all, my opinion and that's all it is as a RACER only, is that too many things have been forced on the regular racers of OLR and all that was really needed was somebody to inforce the rules and the track would be a success. Last year started out good, but due to not upholding rules for one car mainly, the track lost fans and racecars. And some sprintcar guys, and people that don't even own racecars, getting on here and attacking racers for not running at FMR has POed a lot of guys I've talked too. They are only adding to the problems. This is only my opinion as a racer.

To answer your question Bigwheel, we told our racers we were going to be a Friday night track, I can't answer for Gary and Alisia, but my input would be Friday nights. The type of dirt in this part of the country, Sunday racing wouldn't work for any tracks.

I'll be happy to answer any questions on here concerning RTR but my opinions have nothing to do with RTR and are solely on the fact that I'm just me.

And Fireball just so you know, (but I thought you knew everything already) the owners of RTR were at FMR the last race and introduced themselves to French, they did talk about working together. You getting on here and running off about things you know nothing about isn't helping the track. In fact you are hurting it bigtime.

French told everyone at the drivers meeting that his plans are to run once a month for this season and the desicion will be made after this season, depending on commitments as to how often he will run next season. If you go to the FMR site the schedule has been updated.

Well now knowing this.....if this is the case I can understand why there is low car counts......In todays time I can understand someone not wanting to put their sponsorship dollars into a racecar.....especially if they weren't going to get but once a month exposure in return......I'm just wondering what problems this caused the racers who went out and retained sponsorship for their cars and now has no place to run them......and the problems that by not running anymore than they have this year will this cause problems in the future as far as retaining sponsorship in the future....... I guess we are lucky that Richard Gluth done things alot different at FCS in taking it over this year and racing every week...... I really wish French Grimes the best of luck in his endeavors this year and hopefully next.

Well I have no idea what French's intentions are with the racetrack. I do know that when Bethel Mason owned it he made it work evidently because he ran a full show every Friday from 1994-2000 when he unfortunately passed away. I think that French's problems orginally was with his VSS people and it has spilled over to affect everything that's he has tried to do at FMR. I hope his sprint car racing is going good. He's running every week!!

i can understand frenchs point of racing on sat nites he said at one of the meetings that track help is his main concern with it being on fridays his help would have to take off work and you cant do that on a weekly basis i know he is only running once a month but i think if ***** keeps runing cars off frenchs cars should be picking up i talked to larry cassell and herb way they both told me ***** told them to race somewhere else now thats a way to keep cars coming aint it ??? thats why im trying to get a race up there for late mmodels so we can have a good track to race at with out alot of drama french is a good fellow but i think he has to be shown what a crowd the late models bring to the track in the pits as well as the stands with the track conditions being as good as i have been told the late models would love it now when mike owned the track he worked very hard on track prep and i know for a fact that in the beginning of 1 season he got rained out like 7 weeks in a row and that really hurt his pocket but noone seemed to care about that i think that fmr and rtr get to gether they could have all the cars and fans on fri and sat night

Mike hasn't ran at FMR this year as the steel heads have been removed from the schedule, but last year he finished 2nd in points. He's only raced twice this year at 311 with the super series. Thanks for asking about him.... :)
