I was told last night that the reason Bloomquist appeared in Fayetteville was that he received a $5,000 show up fee. Have any of you heard this rumor? Maybe this is the reason he didn't run as fans would expect. His performance didn't match his ability.

Its not 5.,000. But you can belive he got paid. He only races about 6-8 races a year that he doesnt recieve show up money. The inside rumor for most races is 2,000 if he doesnt win over a 1,000 and if he does then you only pay him a 1,000. Now these might not be the exact numbers but they are in the ball park. I know if you ask any track promotor that has paid him they will tell you he is worth every dayum penny at that front gate

if they did pay him, they were smart, bc look at the fans that it brought, not saying most of them want gonna come, but when people know bloomer is gonna be there, its gonna draw a crowd. mo

Well I know I didnt go to the race b/c Bloomer was coming. Hell I was more excited to see Moran , Owens, Ratliff and some of the others than I was Bloomer. I really think it is a load of crap that they pay him to showup. If all the drivers start doing that then we want have to worry about any big races cause I dont think tracks could pay them all. I like the man dont get me wrong but if you are that good, (and he is) just win everytime.

the way l look at it,he was just another :pepper: named scott...ok,maybe he forgot more about dirt than most people know and he is so special that people pay him to play in their sandbox but anyone who will look you in the eye and not speak deserves nothing outside what he earns...

i went to the race and i dont know half the people racing but i went in the pits and seen bloomquist there were alot of people just standing there and i went through them and went up to scott and asked if he would take a pic with me he said sure then i talked to him for a minute maybe you have to actually go up to the driver and start talking to them i did that with earl pearson and austin dillion it was cool....

I just don't see where you can say that he doesn't deserve anything because he didn't look at you or whatever. I posted in another thread that my husband and I saw Scott on several occasions and he was very nice to us each time. Spoke, carried on conversation, very personable.

Yea i dont think they should get paid to show up either, if they want to get paid make the field and race hard for whatever position you can and go pick up your winnings at to payout window. accept what you won and move on to the next race/show.:check_flag:

I was told Saturday night by an Lucas Oil official that the top ten in Lucas points get whatever you want to call it appearance money tow money or what ever, so if Bloomquist gets money for his presence thats a business deal he's worked out for himself. He is not in the top ten in points in any series that I know of.Good business .

I was told by a reliable person that it was 5k. This is not unusual for a promoter to put up money to get the big names in for more of a crowd drawl. You can say what you want but the fans were all over him and he seemed nice to me. I'm glad he was there so that Jeff Smith can say that he beat some of the best names in the biz.

Most folks just see Scott and they freeze up. It's not like the man's any different that any of us. He's a man that pees standing up and well you know. Everytime I've had the opprotunity, I've talked to him. He's always been very nice and accepting. You can't be scared to go up to the man and talk to him. I guess that's why most people think he's just an arrogant ass person, which is far from the truth. There is one other thing to take into consideration, when Scott's at the track, he's at his job. Most of the time, he might not have free time during the race to chat, but that doesn't make the man an ass. He's doing his job.

And yes, Scott does get show up money. His own mama told me that. But like stated previously, that's a wise business deal if you asked me.

I agree it is a smart business deal, but if they all decide to do it then what? No more big races. Like I said I like the guy and he is my daughters favorite, he got my money at the trailer Sat. night. If nobody wants to pay him to come will he quit racing, HELL NO!!!

I agree with you Jrhodes those drivers go there to do a job and i dont no many jobs that you can go to and walk up to someone and just start talking to them i work in a body shop and i am very busy and sometimes when people walk up to me maybe i dont tend to see them or whatever you call it i am working so i try to keep my mind on my work im sure they have a million things going through there minds and trying to prepare for the nights race.

I was also told by a reliable source that if a race is under a certain amount of money the tracks have to pay him 5k just to show.

...and for those that keep asking why to pay him and a couple of other notable driver's, just look at the schedules. There are plenty of races out there that he could have went to and he is not in the Lucas points battle.

Well I say let him go. If he dont like the purse tough sh1t. I have been to 4 races he has been at and I think the best he has done was at Clarys and I think that was 2nd I cant remember. If I was going to pay you to show up, ur a$$ better win. I wonder if he gets paid to go to the World or the Dream, or any other crown jewel race, I doubt it. Like I said b4, I like the dude I just think that is wrong. If you do it for one then you should do it for all of them. JMO

I remember back after Bloomquist had it out with the Xtreme DirtCar Series, there was a $20,000 to win Xtreme race at 311. I heard he called the promoter and told him, he would come to the race if he was paid $2,000 to show up. The promoter told him if $20K to win won't enough for him to show up, keep his ass at home. I like Bloomquist, but that was just too dang funny to me. Dale McDowell went on to win that race.

Exactly if they want to get paid then show up and win the race. or finish the best you can and go pick up your winnings at the payout window.

I like the way he was thinking. Dont give in to that crap he is pulling. Since he has won everything and in some peoples eyes he is god then he can win just like the other man does.
