The racin at FMR last night was the best i've seen anywhere in a long time, all the divisions had a good car count. The Pure Stocks put on an excellent show, with 10 cars. I really have to say I think people are starting to realize that this is going to be THE track that everyone wants to run at, if everything is kept running like French is running it, cause there were alot of positive coming from teams and spectators there last night that hasn't been there in the past. Thanks to French for trying to turn this track into something the whole community will be proud of. And for those of you who do not want to show your support, shame on you.:smiley_593:

The racing was ok when they did race the FIRST feature around 10:00....all i heard for three hours was somebody trying to sell bologna burgers...Introducing sprint drivers at 9:30 didn't help either, seems like the night just trogged on forever & then he cut the last race short....No reason for that...Now we have to wait a month for another race....This is just rediculous.....And somebody PLEASE tell French to stop yelling in the microphone, he's so loud it hurts your ears...

On a good note, the racing was interesting except for mixing SS & LM together...

As a spectator i was pleased with the racing at FMR lastnight. The track was the best that it had been all season. Not really a big sprint car fan but atleast they did race and put on a desent show. The pure stocks put on one heck of a show. Best ive seen in a long time. As far as puttin the SS with the Crates i think its fair....i mean Mark Crowe has proved that SS can run with the Crates. I would rather see one race with 4 cars vesus two races with 2 cars each. Its not like they were really racing each other. French did have a crate winner and a SS winner......so whats not fair bout it?????? I wish that the Ucar race wouldnt have been cut short because #9 would have takin his first of many victories if it had not have been cut short. He made that race very interesting comin from the back 2 times. Im really looking forward to July 14th because i will have my mini stock there. All i can say is that the #8 and #00 better look out cause theres gonna be a yellow toyota leading the field...lol

Well i hope you bring something to that division because it has been pitiful this year compared to last year.....the #11 Kevin Smith and # 44 Sloan walked the dog every race last year and that division is about the weakest there is...

but last nights race got interesting at the end , if the other guys from last year would show up this whole MS field would be like puppies following their momma..

See, that's what I'm talking about. Let's talk about racin, and put last year behind us, we've got a group of guys here who want to race, and that's what it's all about. French told me he really hated cutting the U- Car race short but he's trying to follow the code on noise, and they told him midnight, so that's what he's trying to stick to. As for Smith and Sloan, they have been teched and Sloan has run a couple times this year. Smith was teched Friday, and didn't show Sat., so maybe he's not sure he's still got what it takes huh? Well, anyways the SS asked to run with the crates, so French told them they could. All the bad boys with the so-called big motors didn't show for the no rules pure Stock race, so i guess there will be a no rules Crate Late model race in July. Maybe the crates who said they didn't want to be teched would get a chance to see what a difference the track has to offer now. Bring'em and run'em let's see how many show up for that ! LOL.

Barry Young's wife here. Good turn out. Are you kidding? There was 1 Crate Late Model & 2 Super Streets. The two classes ran together. There was one late model who was just in there to run. This is far from entertaining. Most people like the excitement of guessing who might win, after the heat race is ran; most people like the intensity of multiple cars weaving, bumping, and racing for 1st. There is no excitement when there is a 1st & 2nd place winner and that is it. The fans are not there, either. Typically, in the past, I have noticed the fans consisting of family and friends of the drivers. When you have racers coming from far off (and no one has ever heard of them), the locals are not going to a dirt track to eat dirt and watch people they don't know race sprints. It is not happening. I hate to burst anyone's bubble (I don't see how anyone could be clueless enough for this), but the fans are complaining and hating it, too. They want to see locals, like it used to be. They got all wound up when they found out Steve Brodie was there. They want to talk about local racing the next Monday at work. They want to talk about there buddies fighting it out on the track. On top of all this, the Pure Stocks had a no rules race. The Pure Stocks had to follow the same rules as usual; however, super streets could come in and run with some modifications. No rules...still trying to figure that one. Then, if that was not strange enough, the winner was paid $105. I am hoping someone is lying to my husband about that, because that is messed up. Some of these car owners sink 1000's of dollars into a car and for what? To win a $105. It seems to me the owner of the track likes sprints; and, after listening to the fans talk last night, soon the owner is going to have a nice track for he and his sprint friends to play and hang around at. Because, this is all that is going to be left. One more thing I heard the fans talking about, the pits being outside the track. When a racer leaves the track in the middle of the race, the fans like to see what is happening to the car. They like to know what's going on, because you can't hear the announcer while the cars are racing. When the pit area is in front of them, the fans can see steam coming from the hood; they can see a tire being changed; they can see the car being loaded up on the trailer. This was the 1st time I had gone to Fork Mountain Raceway. I can only hope that Barry will understand and take me to Franklin County Speedway from now on.

Well if he cut that 1 hour sprint lets play frisbee show out, he wouldnt have had to cut races short. Because the general opinion of that was, if they wanted to know everything about them, they would go meet them themselves.
Race track was nice, pitting outside the gate was a little stupid, making you pit crew run down the track with tires or what ever. What if your running hot????? you could ruin your engine by the time they slip and fall getting into the infield. I believe he would have a great track if he changes some of the crazy rules and crap...

well all I can say is that fmr needs to run a late model show at least 1 time this year and im tired of hearing alot of moaning and groaning about this track i think its one of the best out there just needs people to helpout french to get it going if he tried he could take 311 cars and put them in the show that is the track that needs bashing he cancelled the race sat for what reason??? at least french is trying to give people a place to race just like gary and alesia at rolling thunder i was there and raced with whaley and yes he is a good driver and i enjoyed racing with him also raced with him at wayne cnty last year this track has finally got someone that will enforce the rules and people wanna bash him SHUT UP IM TIRED OF HEARING IT he is doing what he thinks will be the best for the track and yes i hope he runs us late models there i will be there be better than dusty ole 311 with no water truck and no pack cars where would you rather race???

French has said all along that he would be happy to run the late models, but he can't afford to pay the big bucks his first year, and none of the late model guys have contacted him since the meeting he had with them sometime back, when they told him to pay what they wanted or else. French has pretty much given up on a late model show since the lates don't want to support him in trying to get the cars and spectators, so he can pay the big bucks to win, so i guess the balls in the late model guys hands now, if they want to race there and are willing to race on the sliding pay scale then they need to contact him and talk it out. Try one race and show him what a crowd you guys can bring and then it might be a regular on the schedule. He has done alot to the track and he has listened to the other drivers views, so just give him a chance to try and break even one race this season.

doc ,i was at the track saturday night in the stands .we were going to run our car again but couldnt get it back together in time.i was talking with aguy in the stands .hes a local buisness man and has sponsored races there before and wanted to know what it would take to get the late models back.told him a guaranteed purse would probably do it.he is going to try n work something out with french.he,s got my number n suppose to let me know something as soon as possible.if this happens i told him we try to have at least 10 cars there.so late models ,limiteds, slm, crates this might be our chance to run at fmr n put on a good show.anyone interested post message.already have 5 cars interested in coming if deal gets worked out.

Doc,

I remember your car #5 from last year (OLR)...you ran just about every race until you smashed it up one night....if those names you mentioned are interested then that would be one he// of a show....Stovall has the track record & Blackburn is just as good if not better...The track is in excellent condition, i hope things can be worked out.....I could bring a bunch of people (fans) to a show like that.

I think Ray Tucker might would come he did last year and him , stovall and Blackburn put on a good show at OLR. I wish Fremch would have late Models it would help the fans count get up. People keep saying that 311's car count is going down and stuff. any info on that. we are supose to race there Tuesday night July 3rd when the Super Late Models are coming. I hope there is a lot there like what was there on may 18th, (25 SLMs.) but Ive herd that the car count's going down at 31 speedway. Are you racing anymore Callahan? I watched you race last year at OLR, but i haven't saw you at 311 or anything.

it was obviously the driver and NOT the car....Brodie is about the best....the car is average & does not show up every race.....but i like the competition....good for the track...
