I seen this guy almost get hit Sat night, I think the track should give him some boudries in them turns. It's only a matter of time before this guy gets nailed in the ass by a car...

I wish they would make him move, not only from a liabitily issue but from a pr stand point if he ever gets hit the track will take a huge blow. I dont want to see it happen and I know some parnets wouldnt want there childern to see a man hit an fly about 100 ft in the air.

trevor you may be joking or you may just be being a smart *** either way you being a racer yourself should thank him for being down there taking your picture or maybe you will not have to worry about the $ cause he might not take your picture any more

I've taken photos there several times over the past couple of years. My home there was underneath the lightpost, but the couple of times we were both there I saw KL do that a lot and almost get hit. I've never seen any of the other photographers I've seen there do what he does. The "problem" is that you can't take photos from outside the track, especially at night (during daylight you can do it from the stands). Its fenced or closed off all the way around except the track entrance and exit, which are both in the turns and you get clobbered with mud balls every time they come around if you stand there. From the lightpost, you are pretty far away from all the corners. My flash is rated at like 136 feet and its not enough to get good pics in the corner. I know he has a camera that has the zoom capability but probably not the flash capability to reach the corners. He needs to get a flash that will carry (probably one rated at 180ft plus). They are really expensive (I've been looking for a "cheap", maybe used, one) so when I get a chance to get to Clarys I can get good corner pics. But he is there every week and really needs to get one because eventually he will get hit. In the meantime, I think they need to tell him not to get that close to the racing surface. It would just be bad in many ways if he does get hit.

i was thinkin the same thing i would never be down in that enfield with races going on i mean its gonna happen sooner or later he gonna get hit yall mayb need to put him under the light pole like kevin was sayin but that is a dangerous track takin photography at i believe

shotgun, its not a dangerous track to take pics at if u use COMMON SENSE, i mean everytime i go and kevin is there, he uses his COMMON SENSE and gets under the light pole.

Some tracks like Hagerstown and Charlotte mark lines in the enfield with chalk and you are not allowed to cross the line maybe Clarys should do something like that. However and maybe Kevin can give his input on what he knows, I was told that if you have the right press creditentials a track will almost let you stand on the track to take pictures.
Me and Red Dust were talking about starting a lotto and let people guess the date and what class it would be when KL gets hit.

But at Hagerstown you have an inside fence, not an open run for your life open infield.
Red I have some dummies even cheat on that just to get that up close in your eye photo

I dont think it is very funny to joke about someones physical handicap, he has to wear the shoe for a reason and to get on here and make a joke out of it is very childish so if you are a child then grow up and if your grown then act your age
I was not making fun of his handicap.. My post made reference to his shoe and that's it.. So chill
If he don't move his ass he will have more to worry about than his shoe anyway.. I only started the thread out of concern for his safety and the tracks liabilty.. I saw one other person in the infield taking photos and they did not go that close to the turns. It may have been RaceJunkie and by the looks at his photos he was plenty close.. Never mind I was only looking out for his and the tracks best intrest because you mark my word when his ass gets hit, he will want the track to pay for it ALL...
Note: The above quote was deleted but I saw it and did not have a chance to reply so I just took a screen shot of it and will provide it if I needed to the staff.

Yes hardcoreracer that was me in the infield, I don't go to close because I have a fear of cars, they are bigger than me and hurt when they hit you..LOL
I say let K.L be and let him do his thing, I do on the other hand think there should be some sort of safety measures put in place for the infield photographers. I have even thought about wearing a orange vest that would make me more visible and noticeable to the drivers. I am sure that when a car crosses the infield the driver is more worried about loosing his positions and not breaking his car.. I know it is hard to look for someone when your in that position.

I think you have the orange vest covered with that LRC T-Shirt........Maybe we need to give K.L one............ I guess the thing that makes me wonder is.............why is he taking the pictures we never see them posted anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres the deal after some more thought. I really dont care if he gets hit or not. It is america and its his choice. But there are several reasons why he should be moved and moved starting this saturday night.
1. The drivers shouldnt have to be looking out for some guy wearing a Orange vest two foot from the racing surface. In the event of a crash they need to be worrying about saving themselves first and their an other cars second. Not having to second guess themselves for the rest of their lives: Did I do everything I could to have missed that guy that I hit an killed. Some people do have a consequence
2. There are also a bunch of folks who come out to the track to see races, not the crashes and people getting killed. Now adults could take it if something grottiest was to happen, but why should a parent have to explain to lets say to a 4-6 yr old why that make just got splatted all over the infield.
So if he reads this forum I would hope he would move himself. If not I know dwayne reads the forum an maybe he will move him back over to were he sitts on the 4-wheeler. if not expect to hear a whole lot of. "hey dummy" hey stupid" dont you think you should move back a little? over the mic this saturday. For weeks I have made a little joke out of his position, but its really not funny.

Everybody loses if KL gets hit. He'll either get hurt or killed. It'll be bad publicity for the track. The track is likely to get sued by him or his estate. I'm not saying he should stay under the light pole all the time, but he shouldn't be allowed to get as close to the track as he gets. Since he doesn't want to use his common sense, I think its the track's responsiblility to tell him that he has to stay a certain distance from the racing surface.
PS: these are a couple night photos I took last year from under the lightpost, no need to be a couple of feet from the track to get good pics, even at night.
