I'd think Moyer would be a strong ppossiblity to make it and I thought england was running the complete series, maybe not if hes so far down in points.

Past "big race" winners at Fayetteville:
NDRA
Aug. 23, 1980 - Freddy Smith (I vividly recall his victory lane photo with Miss NDRA, Eva ... ahhhh ... what was her last name? Taylor?)
HAT/UDTRA
Aug. 17, 1991 - Hank Edwards
June 27, 1992 - Ed Basey
May 15, 1993 - Scott Bloomquist
May 28, 1994 - Danny Parker ($10,000 win)
June 28-29, 1996 - Scott Bloomquist
May 9-10, 1997 - Wendell Wallace ($15,000 win - biggest winner's payout ever at FMS)
May 1, 1998 - Billy Moyer (Moyer was suffering from tremendous low back pain, but managed to hold Wallace off the entire 100 laps)
April 16, 2000 - Rick Eckert (the infamous "I had a fuel leak" race, when Bloomquist was DQ'd for being 42 pounds light at the scales)
April 21, 2001 - Chub Frank (Chubzilla won the UDTRA show the night before at Savannah - ran 55 miles in the two feature events and his take for the weekend was more per mile than Bobby Hamilton took for winning the Cup race April 22 at Talladega.)
STARS
Aug. 6, 1994 - Rick Eckert
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
... and "big race" winners at Lake View, since many of those guys ran both places:
HAT/UDTRA
May 26, 1992 - Ed Gibbons
May 14, 1993 - Scott Bloomquist
May 14, 1994 - Scott Bloomquist
May 19-20, 1995 - Scott Bloomquist
May 10-11, 1996 - Skip Arp (the infamous race when a lot of drivers' paychecks had a "stop payment" put on them - Arp was among 'em > got $5K in cash that night and a $5K bad check that David Taylor eventually made good on, even though he wasn't the one responsible for paying the purse since he was only the track owner, not the promoter. Classy move ...)
STARS
July 2, 1993 - Ed Basey
(The Fayetteville Observer files show a STARS race at Lake View in Aug. '94 on the same weekend as the Fayetteville STARS race. I was in Indy covering the inaugural Brickyard 400, so I wasn't "home" to cover those races, and I can't find any record in our microfilm about the Lake View STARS show. Anybody got any idea who won, or was it run?)

1. O'Neal=No will be on the Summernationals tour. Annoucement made in Victory Lane @ Brownstown.
2. Casebolt =Yes, running the whole series
3. Pearson=Of course, going for first ever four time repeative championship.
4. Moyer=Doubt it, he's back to running his true "outlaw" schedule
5. James=Yes, running complete series.
6. English=Makes me wonder. He ran good back @ a HAT race.
7. Shaver=Thinking he is running the whole series now.
8. Schlieper=I would think after following the first part of the schedule he would.
9. Moran=Oh yeah, the Million Dollar Man will be there.
10. Ratliff=Yes, he's top candidate for rookie of the year.
It's going to be hard to say about the best the southern states have to offer. I know there's going to be a SAS race the same weekend at Toccoa. Michael England was on the tour full time, unless things have changed, I'm pretty sure he will be there. I'm pretty sure you will see right many of the Clash guys there.

You'll end with 8-10 frequent or infrequent Lucas Oil participants as someone suggested a month or so ago. Rest of the field will be Clash, SAS, SASE, and a few local guys.

Don't count on SAS and SASE guys. SAS is running Toccoa that Friday night, and Dixie the next night.

Greg, you get bonus points for spelling Rattliff correctly!
By the way, it's my understanding that the Lucas race - just like the Clash races - count toward Fayetteville's SLM track championship, so all the locals had better be there if they want the points. Might as well enter - $100 entry fee, same as a Clash race.

Just my opinion but having points count for this event isn't right. 99% of all the other tracks treat a touring series as a seperate event. What happens if 2 FMS regulars make the Lucas Oil race and all the others dont????? Its unfair!

learn to run faster, its there home track, so that lets them have the advantage over the series cars.

Man will some people ever quit whinning about what is fair. Who says anything in life has to be fair?? I think its a great idea, would increase all the car counts at touring series races.. If an only if you were gonna not make it a points race to keep the car count amomg the locals, would be just award show points, with maybe some eatra points if you make the feature.
