WHY DO THEY WET OR COMPLETELY SOAK THE TRACK FOR THE ENDURO CARS WHAT DOES IT DO?BESIDES MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE OUT ON AND WASTE YOUR MONEY TRYING? WHY DONT THEY TRY ONLY GOING AROUND ONCE MAYBE THEN WE CAN DRIVE OUR CAR AND AVOID GETTING STUCK OR CREAMED BY ANOTHER CAR.IT MORE DANGEROUS FOR THEM TO SOAK THE TRACK.BUT I'LL BE BACK IN MY NEW BLOOMQUIST CAR NEXT TIME TO TRY AGAIN MY BATTERY WAS DEAD AND I HAD TO BE PUSHED OFF BUT I WILL BE BACK:kiss2568:

The track is absolutely safer wet than dry, for at least two reasons:

1. The cars are much slower on a wet track than on a dry track.
2. When two cars do get together, the slick track allows the cars to slide without the tires gripping the track and flipping the cars.

A third reason, unrelated to safety, exists for wetting the track - the race is far more entertaining for the fans. As soon as you are tired of running with less experienced drivers, and don't want to have to wash half the track off your car after every race, add some roll bars and drive the U-Cars.

No, wrecking your car is no fun. Last I counted, I built 5 Enduro cars myself, and the rest of the family had about that many more. That doesn't change the fact that a wet track is safer and more entertaining than a dry track, however.

A dry track also requires a greater initial investment, and the wrecks are generally more damaging than those on a wet track. If you raced this past weekend, you must have seen the damage to the 4T0 and the 19 in the U-Cars. Both cars were very heavily damaged, possibly destroyed. It was the very first race for the 19 car, and it never even made a lap!

Had the incident occured on a wet track, it probably would not have cause nearly as much damage. Good thing, too, as the rules for the wet track do not require roll bars.

FMS has a division for everyone. Enduro cars are an inexpensive avenue into racing that is relatively safe and very enjoyable for the fans. The U Cars are inexpensive, relatively safe, and demanding enough to reward the more experienced drivers. If you desire to race rear-wheel drive cars on a dry track, you have the option of building a pure stock. More expensive? Of course - but there you go. We can usually pick any two of three between cheap, safe, or entertaining to watch. The Enduros cover all three, and that's hard to beat.

To me it is entertaing seeing the enduros and the U-cars race when the track is wet being out there with crowd they catch it very entertaing thereselves but at some points it does seem a tad bit dangerous but if the driver has experience then there shouldent be no problems :wings_biggrin:

Each class is entertaining in its own way. Enduros are hilarious - especially knowing that the "action" is safer because the track is wet. The U-Cars don't race on a wet track, but the drivers are generally at least familiar with track procedures and have usually raced in the Enduro class first, so the racing is more competitive.

Dirving a race car, even an Enduro or U-Car, can be a dangerous hobby. FMS does a fair job mitigating the danger while preserving the entertainement value.

As a follow up to the discussion, I offer the attached photo.

This is from the start of last weeks U-Car race. The photo is taken from a video of the event, and illustrates well what can happen on a dry track with much more grip than a wet one. At the moment of the photo, the 19 car had just crossed over the 4T0 car as it was rolling. If the track had been wet, the 4T0 almost certainly would not have rolled, and all the cars would have driven away from what would have been a minor wreck.

Fortunately, the rules for all the dry track events require more safety equipment. Everyone walked away from the crash (although the driver of the 19 car might have an eye injury). An equally severe accident in the Enduro cars might well have caused serious injuries, given the complete lack of required safety equipment.
