View Full Version : Bad Call At FMS 5/19/07

Left FMS at 11:45 pm and the 3rd race was just beginning. Asked Larry Norris why so late tonight and he said "track conditions" but the track looked pretty good. They took a 45 minute intermission - are they in the business to race or sell hot dogs and candy??? Then to top off all wasted time, Larry makes a horrible call in late model race that a blind man could have called better. The No. 1 car was loose in the turns all night, all over track and the No. 4 car could have passed several times but backed off because he was swerving. Then on lap 19 the No. 4 car goes for the pass and No. 1 got loose AGAIN, and No. 4 got in to him and Larry and his tower buddies said the No. 1 held his line and No. 4 took him out. Depending on who is in front determines if it is "just driving" or a "take out". No. 32 ran all over No. 0 and took him out but No. 32 kept his position - "go figure"......... Rules, rules, rules, does FMS know how to run a business fairly and keep the rules the same week in and week out?? This weekend told me that answer - NO? After putting No. 4 in the rear and giving No. 1 the win, guess what, No. 1 was LIGHT AND ILLEGAL and was disqualified and No. 32 won the race - and don't forget, he took No. 0 out earlier in the race and kept his position. I GUESS NO. 32 WAS JUST RACING, right Larry, AND NO. 4, who never deliberately takes any one out of a race, won't just racing, based on the rules this Sat night. I am sure next weekend will have a new set of rules because they are never consistent any way at this track. Remember what happened to Wayne County with all those bad calls, well guess what, it can happen to FMS also. I hope No. 4 takes his ride to Dublin and does not give FMS another hard earned penny of their money because I sure don't want to give them mine. THE NO 4 CAR WAS TOTALLY RIPPED OFF BY FMS THIS SAT NIGHT AND THAT IS FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rippedhand:

One Set Of Rules For One Racer And Another Set For Someone Else Is Exaclty How Fms Operates. Jimmy Mcduffie "11" Was Suspended For Accidently Hitting A Parked Car In The Overflow Pit Area And Nothing Was Done To David Nelson When He Hit Jimmy On The Race Track On Purpose When Jimmy Had A Flat Tire And Was Trying To Get To The Pits. Does Anyone Know If Jimmy Will Race At Another Track Or If David And Larry Make The Rules Up As They Go At All The Local Tracks?

Sounds like Fms and Dublin have the same rules. What a shame for some drivers.

Sounds like Fms and Dublin have the same rules. What a shame for some drivers.

I wouldn't go that far Dirtchaser. There were several controversial incidents last night. Milliken and Neighbors, Tyndall and the #1 in LM, then Jeff Smith and Beasley in SLM. FMS reviewed the video and made their decisions. One thing you can't see easily in a replay is intent, so they made the calls based on what they saw. I didn't agree with all the calls either, but what can you do? Just like in any other sport, the calls don't always go your way. IMO, this is not the same as Dublin changing calls from before the race to after the race.

I'm sure Tyndall will regroup and come back strong as ever. Good job to Jeff Smith for coming from the back to win in SLM, he was in a different league last night.

Some calls are hard to make I know but some are not. There will always be calls that some don,t think are right. Only one that knows what happen was the driver and if he,s wrong most of them will not say it. Just do right for all on the track we all come to see the drivers race. If the drivers don,t come back because of BS then fans quit going. Then track quits opening the gates. We don,t need any other dirt tracks to close.

Tell me what the difference was with the incident between the #4 of tyndall and the#1hammonds!! Tyndall was sent to the back for getting into the 1 car?? In the slm 25 beasley was awarded 1st for spinning 70 smith? guess what smith was sent to the back go figure!!! Was it the same officials - to dusty.. not sure..right call..lets flip a coin ..ooh i know whooosss driving that car....yea thats right ..nah i like that guy.. cant send him to the back.. ooh well even though he is the track champ we know he does not drive like that maybe he will get over it and come back!!(CONSISTENTLY) Webster's definition - acting or thinking always in the same way.

4 was eager for a win and couldn't stand finishing 2nd. He done what he thought he had to do to win and guess what he didn't. If he would have sat back and waited his mother wouldn't have had to shown her butt and he would have won. Patience is a virtue. The video don't lie he took that man out. A blind man could have seen that. Then unlike Jeff Smith staying out and racing DJ got mad and took it in the pits. The right call was made in the limited class. Wrong call in Super Lates. Shawn Beasly has been really dirty this year and I have a feeling that those boys are getting real tired of his crap. Plus what happened to track officals not working on cars? You think that Jackson boy would have learned by what happend last year when he got fired. You either work for the track or you dont and then you can play with the drivers. I seen him and other officals working on Beasly car. NOT RIGHT! I am so happy that Jeff Smith came back for the win. That's what you call a REAL RACE CAR DRIVER! From the back to the front after getting screwed! He took that money and ran!

"(CONSISTENTLY) Webster's definition - acting or thinking always in the same way." ---- I agree with you here.... they should have sent Beasly to the rear.... because there was no way 4 should have been left up front. Plus I have seen the track make bad calls that were good for the 4 so it depends on their mood.

Did you actually review the tape Dirk Track Angel? Guess what, I did review a tape and #4 DID NOT take #1 out. #1 was loose in the turns the entire race and #4 had to back off every lap. Ask some of the people who were over in turns 1 & 2 and they will tell you that. The tape I saw shows #1 sliding and #4 got in to his front left, so how was that taking him out??? We do however agree on Webster's definition of consistent, which does not happen at FMS. Patience is a virtue and #4 showed a lot of patience thruout race and you would have seen that in every turn of that race if you were actually watching the race!!! He took his car in b/c there was only 1 lap left and if he would have had as many laps left as Jeff Smith, well guess what, he would have continued racing to and yes he was upset with that unfair call - wouldn't you be if that happened to you??? He is 18 and very talented and SOME are jealous, but hey that is life. I am a very fair person and if #4 would have taken #1 out, I would be the first to stand up say so, but he DID NOT; he was ripped off and that is the bottom line.

Beachdream i to watched a video of the race and it confirmed what i saw at the race. The 1 got loose in turn 1 the 4 under him the 4s front bumper got into his left front quater spinning the 1. I do not know ANY driver that would or could have done any different it was the last lap and he is there to win!!!To dirttrack...angel what is a dirttrackangel its not in websters....i have never seen one especially at a dirttrack???? Yes the 4 was very patience he could have taken the 1 out several times in the race.. but he does not drive like that. If you were not so bias you know that also this is the 3rd year he has ran at fms and you as well as the whole staff at fms as well as the drivers knows he is a clean driver!! Yes he has got into other cars just like sat. but it was not intentional its called racing! I spoke to 1 of the track officals that had the best view he said it was a ...BAD...CALL!!!!

A dirt track angel is something 4 needed Sat. Just wanted to let you all know that I am not bias. I really don't pull for anyone in the limited class. I have those that I like and 4 is a good driver.I like to see him do well. His mother on the other hand. She has helped with making his head swell. He is no better then anyone else out there and well she likes to think so. If he was he'd be running somewhere other then Fayetteville where they always make bad calls(as you all say). Face it this is the best track around.

SmokeFan204 you said.....
"1. I do not know ANY driver that would or could have done any different it was the last lap and he is there to win!!!" ... so he would do anything to win right? RIGHT! Bad calls are made and that's racing. Fayetteville has always been that way and will always be that way. They are not perfect. No matter which way the calls go someone is on the short end of the stick. Everyone is going to be mad when the call is against their driver or when they feel thier driver has been screwed. Get over it! It happens to all of us. Well except those who kiss you know what at the track. It is what it is! THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE. Weather you like it or not.
YOU ALSO SAID
"and you as well as the whole staff at fms as well as the drivers knows he is a clean driver!!"---- no I dont think any driver is completley clean and I know of a few drivers they say differently too. They all have thier faults.... and if the staff of fms thought he was clean he would have never went to the rear of the field. Maybe he can come back this week and show them he can do it right.

We're new to the area. Had to drive over 2 hours to get to FMS. We left at midnight; before the SLM race started. That was after a 45 minute to 1 hours intermission. The track was in good shape. This was our second and last visit. You come to see SLMs run and have to leave because of poor planning and execution of the evenings events. Some people like to get home before the sun comes out (when there isn't a rain delay). When that happens more that once, you don't go back. We vote for the performance of the track/staff/management with our pocketbook (or the absence of it).

FMS has been good thus far this year in getting everyone home at a decent time, so do n't shut them out for this one time.. If it was an a curring thing Like it is at Dublin then yea I would plan an all nighter but not just once, hey it happens at all tracks from time to time.

Smokefan204 must be DJ's mom or dad only parent gets on a race chat to tell about everything thier son has done out side of racing. Plus who else would know all of that info? Not to mention they (includes all parents) never see the wrong that their own children do. Who cares what he done at school- the title of this blog is Bad Call At FMS 5/19/07 not What kind of Grades does DJ Tyndall get in school.... If racing is a small part of his life then it should be okay that he didn't win. Plus he's not running for points because Kay is not running around with her notebook so all he got screwed out of was money and we all know there's plenty backing him up. Get over it sometimes bad calls are made ---- UknowME :)

smokefan204 is not his parent I am his parent and I am very proud of his work at school and the race track. Apparently, you do not have anything to be proud of Dirt track angel/ unknowme. I am very pleased that you are interested with my child and find it worth your time to keep up with him the way you do. I do know who you are and your family. Danny
I am DJ's moma and I am also very proud of him as any mother would be of her child....We don't think that he is better than any one else. He has a talent that he is very good at and we support him 100%. And if you need to look at my notebook just let me know because I keep up with all the drivers in that class. Correction on racing being a small part of his life---DJ takes racing very serious and works on his car daily----DJ did get a bad call but he will come back from this experience. Racing goes on............Kaye
