Mike Fryer of Freeport picked up the Late Model feature win at Bureau County Speedway Friday night. He had only raced at Bureau County Speedway a couple of times in the past few years but had everything set up right to lead every lap of their feature event. Travis Rokey charged up through the field to finish second ahead of Rich Bell. Will Harris of Malden picked up his very first win as he took the checkers in the Late Model heat race.
Josh Vinnedge of Forreston led from flag to flag in the Modified feature.
Marty Thompson was running third when a tie rod end broke, leaving his inside front wheel dangling. This didn’t slow Thompson as he and Mike Garland were still racing side by side. Garland just made a pass around Thompson when the caution came out. One the field slowed, Thompson was forced to drop out. Ray Bollinger, who had been running in second, lost that position to Garland with six to go.
Eric “Spud” Balensiefen of Princeton picked up his first feature win of the year in the Street Stock division. Randy Lucas and Justin Rutledge ran door to door for several laps with Lucas pulling away to finish second. Eric Whittington finished fourth.
Rob Hammitt led the first half of the Hornet feature but the “Pink Panther” Dave Roggy was hot on his tail. Roggy tried to make his move on the front stretch for the lead but Hammitt was able to pull away for a couple more laps. Roggy made the pass stick with six laps to go to take the Hornet feature win. Jarrod Galli finished third ahead of Alex Fisch and Mark Sutton, Jr.
