In the meeting we discussed the tire issue and come up with the agreement that super street could run groove tires but no soaking and was an open tire rule. I for one have a bunch of d11's that are grooved that i have purchased from late models in the past. I know of people that have a bunch of goodyears left over from the 311 tire rule last year. As i do and now you are asking us to purchase another brand of tire. This really hurts the budget when we have a shop full tires all ready. This is just my opinion, thanks Dennis

The SPEC 38 is the same tire as the SPEC 12 that the Clash runs. We wanted to try to get the SPEC 12, but that tire has to go through one guy and we can't get it.The SPEC 38 should be a great tire.
At the meeting I said we would do all we could do to help the racers with what they had. I never said anything for sure because I didn't know for certain. But that's why we are letting them run the D-11's and also running ANY SPEC tire for the first 4 races, to help the racers. I put my butt on the line trying to help that much.

sounds fair to me not familier with d38 though.... how about letting
us run any tire for the first 4 races alot of people have the g 200
and g 300 left over from 311 as I have 4 new skuffs now. even let
grooving go It'll give everyone a chance to try the new track out
with the tire they are used too now.. it dont matter usually after
a mo. you go thru 5 or 6 tires anyhow.. but any tire is ok with me..
as long as we dont change without a 3 wk notice...just an idea
thanks for keeping us posted Wayne....

Trying to be as far as I can be. If you say ANY TIRE, you will have drivers put on 4 soft tires each week just so they can win. Where we are saying SPEC TIRES, they are easy enough to find , new and used, and the teams will still be on a level playing field. Some teams run other tracks that don't allow grooving either, so if some teams get to groove, they will groove NEW tires just to get an advantage. It's all about being fair as we can be to all. Nobody has to buy new tires for 4 weeks, doesn't that help some?

Yes thats OK I didnt think of buying open tires to get a win..
so I guess Phil has these now. Phil is handleing the tires I
guess?.... Yes its more than fair Wayne. Thanks again...

All You Guys At Rolling Thunder Have The Racers In Mind And Hearts I Think That Is A Good Idea

The tire rule is going to hurt you attracting 311 and Wythe late model drivers. In fact, Wythe's current tire rule is hurting them. Go with any spec tire, any brand, no grooving allowed. Or at least give the drivers a choice in brands. A lot of guys are on tire deals and won't buy a set for just one track.

They did give the drivers choice in brand. All of this was discussed with the drivers at a meeting last month and all drivers had a voice in it.

Please explain to me how Rolling Thunder rules are going to hurt guys from other tracks, any more than other tracks rules are going to hurt the Rolling Thunder teams.
Several Wythe and 311 LM teams have SPEC tires from running the Clash, that means they are good for the first 4 races. Do the other tracks allow Rolling Thunder LM teams to do this? Which tire is 311 on this week?
Thanks Sundi......Glad somebody was paying attention...LOL....

You answered your own question. After the first 4 races, they have to buy tires they can't run at any other local weekly track. That's my point exactly. How many guys that don't run the Clash have this exact spec American Racer?

Gafney Spec D55
Antioch Spec D55 or G50
Carolina Spec D11
Lancaster Spec D11
311 G200 then to spec 1300
Rolling Thunder spec 38
Whats the hardness of a spec 1300 and a spec 38. If there close to a 45 like the D11 then why not open spec tires. Are yall going to run Fridays or Saturday. Whats the late model purse going to be and when is practice.

Roger I looked at the 1300's Bobby had at the track last Sat. man them thangs are soft as bubble gum.......I think their as soft or softer than an American Racer 0. But the sizes he had were not even in the ball park for what I like.....I think the smallest tire I saw was like 90 or 91......most were 93,94,95.......big durn tires.....no idea what a AR 38 is

I found out the deal. The NEW American Racer 38 is the same as the NEW Hoosier 1300.
Camlobe, a new hoosier with a 95 chalkmark will only be around 92'' when you mount it. And one with a 94 chalkmark will be around 91 1/2" when you mount it.

OK thanks. The G200 I think checked a 30 so this 1300 and 38 if like a 0 would be in the 20's. I was buying a least 1 sometimes 2 tires at 311 on the G200. The summers have been just too hot and no rain for this soft of a tire. People just dont water the tracks like they use to. I am not a D55 fan, but I like the D11. Not to hard not to soft. After 4 races I just put on rear tires and the ones I took off where still in good shape just the sharp edge was gone. Well first 4 weeks on any compound should tell what tire to run.

Them G 200's don't hold a candle to the Hoosier and AR's. Most will be able to get atleast 2 races out of a 1300 or 38 on the right rear and probally 3 or 4 out of the rest of them.

I was told the Spec 38 is the same exact tire as the SPEC 12 that the Clash runs. We could not get the Spec 12 because they have to go through a certain guy. At the first LM meeting the guys threatened to string us up if we put them on GY's. And ask us to look into getting a tire they could actually race on instead of just follow each other. At the second rules meeting I ask them about the SPEC 12 and nobody complained then. But we can't get the 12's. The 38's will be out alot next year. These 1300's that Hoosier has is a warehouse full of discontinued tires, (while supply Last ) order them from Hoosier. Look at the Hoosier web-site for more info. on the 1300. Hoosier is trying to get rid of all of them.

If a duro reading of 20 is true for the 38 then a super will burn 'em up in quailifing we don't want that , but if the track stays wet like friendship
used to they'll be OK. If the track gets hard look out, it'll take 2 R rears
to get through the feature, but if theres a problem theres always a solution.
If the 38 is super soft we need a harder option in the 40s or 50s I hope to
get over to see the track this wk...

I got an idea let's just not run tires and just run on rims that way everyone will be even. Won't have to worry about wet or dry tracks that way. These are the tires everyone agreed to at the meeting. Wayne has been talking left and right with Phil about this and this is what the track has to do to get a parts truck etc. at the track. Someone posted a list of tires at other tracks that were different so it looks like they are in the same boat too. He has done the best he could on this so cut him some slack and run what you need too. I have got too buy tires just like the rest of you. Enough is enough already.

But keep in mind, Rolling Thunder Tire Rule, AMERICAN RACER SPEC 38..
I just posted the info. to show some of the experts why the 1300's are out there now. Discontinued cheep tires!!! (while they last) When they are gone, then what? The SPEC 1300's will be good only first 4 races at RTR . Then to AR SPEC 38.

JOJO,
Trust me, you know how long I've been involved in racing. I've talked to people that know. Was the Clash slicking tires every 15 laps? The SPEC 12 is SPEC 38 rubber.......

sorry Big Kid I forgot we've both been in racing a lone time. do you remember
going to east bend and you lapping the feild now that was fun... I just got
carried away .. in someones post they said a duro in the 20's and I
remember I used to burn up 3 or 4 tires a night at 311 back in the 80's
and early 90's those were in the 20's. so I take my humble hat off to you
Thanks for putting up with us..... Looking foward to racing again if I can
afford it.. See ya soon....

Just messing with ya JO, I'd like to go back to the old "HUMPERS" them things would hook up anywhere. But the dang things were 100"round..lol...Or how about the old Towell City retreads at 311. Where one certain racer got a stamp made and stamped his own tires he ran at Log Cabin. The ones he ran were way soft. People talk about racing at Wythe Raceway now, when I was 6 years old , my dad and me were there every Sat. and your dad had a car along with seeing Fulcher and Frazier. I seen Fulcher last year in Abington when we were working there, still twiling that cigerate in his mouth.

If the 38's and 12's are the same tire. Why not let the 12's run with the 38's after the 4th week. We run supers at wythe on 56's. With Clash we have to have 56's,48's,12's. So if i want to come run after the 4th race now I would have to buy 38's. Thats 20-50 tires to run two tracks.

The tire rule at Rolling Thunder works just like everywhere else. Since we can't get the 12 it would be kinda hard to let people run it.

Got another call about this also.. I'm sorry for the confusion, the site server went down last week and we lost everything and the wrong info.. got posted accidentally.
Tire rule for LM is any SPEC tire with SPEC written on it for the first 4 races of 2007. Then only AR SPEC 38 will be allowed.
Thanks Andy, another long day....lol...
