Mark Pettyjohn finishes second at Georgetown
By: T. J. Layne

MILTON, DELAWARE-Mark Pettyjohn and the Pettyjohn Racing Team invaded the Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware for their first Super Late Model event of the season on Friday night, April 20th. The night started out great for Mark as he won the second heat race to give him the second place starting position for the 25 lap feature event. In the feature, Mark drove a great race and came home in the second position, a great way to start out the Georgetown season.

What was even more special about the second place finish was Mark’s brother Kenny Pettyjohn won the nights feature event while his other brother, David, moved his way up from the eleventh starting position to finish third in the feature to make it a Pettyjohn sweep of the podium positions. “I would have liked to had won, but I was also happy for Kenny”, stated Mark. “I am glad that we had a strong run, we just have to get all of the bugs worked out of our new car and then we'll be ready to win some races!”

This weekend Mark plans to invade the New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ on Friday, April 27th to compete in the speedways first weekly Super Late Model show. With a good run on Friday night Mark will then head to the Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for the “26th Annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic” sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on April 28th. Mark states he will only be at Hagerstown if all goes well on Friday. Mark Pettyjohn would also like to thank all of his sponsors which include Melvin L. Joseph Construction, Hitchens Brothers Trucking, Rogers Sign Company, Swartz Race Cars, and eAction Photos.
