By Mike Leone

April 5, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Carnesville, GA)…This Road to the Final Four may be a mere memory for college basketball fanatics, but the Road to the $350,000 National Championship for the FASTRAK Mid-East & Southern Late Model Racing Series resumes this Saturday, April 7 at Dennis Harker’s Green Valley Motor Speedway. Located in Glencoe, Alabama, Green Valley is a 3/8-mile dirt track and will play host to a combination regional event with $3,000 on the line.

William Thomas is fresh off his $2,000 victory last Saturday night at East Alabama Speedway, where he won the opening night of the Southern Region Touring Series. Thomas will look to fend off local hot shoe Clay Grogan, who has three wins in a row at the track. Grogan will be sure to have his hands full against all the touring FASTRAK racers in this big early season event.

Included in the night will be the famous tennis ball throw, fan in the stands, fireworks, and the traditional autograph session leading up to the four-wide salute and the 50-lap event is the also the kickoff of the Mid-East Region Touring Series.

“Green Valley Motor Speedway has now re-opened under new management with a whole new staff,” explained track promoter Dennis Harker. “We’ve invested lots of money to bring our track to the forefront of family entertainment. Our new track is now a family-oriented facility that you can bring your mother for a night of family fun. If you’ve never raced at Green Valley before, come back and try out our newly renovated track. If you’ve never raced here before, what are you waiting for!?”

Gates open at 4 p.m. with the drivers meeting slated for 6:15, hot laps at 7 p.m., and heat racing taking to the track at 8 p.m. Adult admission is just $10, while pit admission is $25.

Race highlights will be shown on local Channel 24 on Monday at 9 p.m. with pre-race highlights at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Don’t forget that RaceTrackTv.net will also be filming this event.

It was also recently announced that the new Green Valley Speedway will be the site of the regional playoff for Night 1 of the National Championship in October.

“We’re looking forward to racing at Green Valley and all the improvements Dennis has done,” stated FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester. “Last weekend was a great kickoff to the Southern Region and this should be a great event with the Southern Region joining the Mid-East Region for their season opener. It’s also going to be a good tune-up for the regional playoff event held here in October. We’ve gotten lots of calls from people inquiring to see if we’re still racing as much of the country is getting a blast of cold air, but everything is a go. It’s going to be cool, but sunny.”
