I really don't think it's the responsibility of the new owner to carry the expense of a Banquet for the 2006 season. From what I know French has invested allot of money already in just getting the track updated and ready to run in the 2007 season. How could anyone expect him to to do what should have been done by the previous owners? I know it's sad that the drivers did not get any awards or money for their efforts in 2006, but I think the biggest reward is that the track will run again this year. And without the time and effort (Including Money) that French has put into it so far, it would only be a deserted dust bowl.

JMO food for thought.:check_flag:

If I may make a suggestion.

Why not contact all the racers and their families and have everyone bring a covered dish to the track on a upcoming Sunday afternoon and reminisce about the 2006 season and about the upcoming season. We always talk about the "racing family" Why not make it a 2006 in review family reunion!:FirstPrize:

While we are making suggestions, Why don't everyone from last year contact French and see if maybe something can be done to recognize the champions etc. at the car show scheduled before the season. It might not be much but worth a try. Don't feel bad the workers didn't get a thank you or a kiss my you know what or nuthin'. So give it a try and see what happens you never know.

Again it would still fall in the hands of the current staff to organize it and get it together. Now I am not saying that French would not do it.. I am simply saying he probably does not have the time at the moment. Now if someone would call him and offer their help and maybe get it organized anything is possible.

I only say this because the last time I spoke with him he said he still had to get all the staff in place and the racing season was just around the corner. This was about 3 weeks ago so I do not know exactly where he stands now.. I do know that every time I have spoken to him he has acted like he has the utmost respect, and wants to hear what everyone thinks. He truly wants it to work out and I do believe that.

I would encourage anyone that wanted to help out give him a call. I am sure he would appreciate it very much.

I just talked to French and he said although he will not be able to provide a banquet for the 2006 season he welcomes anyone to attend the April 28th picnic and encourages you to use that day to get together with the racers. There will be plenty of food and no need to bring anything but a appetite. So if you have not been to the track and need a reason to get out attend the picnic and talk with the man, believe me he will listen to what you have to say.

I know that French never promised a banquet. That's something else that side by side did that fell through. I guess I'm the only one that cares about the banquet. I don't care for food. I sure as hell don't care about the money. Guess I'll go have my own trophy made that says Oak Level on it, since it doesn't exist anymore........
