GAMBLERS ADDED TO FASTRAK NORTHEAST TOURING SCHEDULE; MCKEAN ANNOUNCES TO-WIN AMOUNTS; DOG HOLLOW DATE CHANGE
By Mike Leone
March 20, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Pulaski, PA)…FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Regional Co-Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone are pleased to add Gamblers Raceway Park to its 2007 touring schedule. The August 5 event brings the Series total to 16 at present.
The Sunday show will feature the FASTRAK Series cars racing for $1,200 to-win. The Gamblers event will fit nicely into the first weekend of August as McKean County Raceway is off the night prior and there are no Touring Series events that weekend. Gamblers Raceway Park is located in Clearfield, Pennsylvania not far from Interstate 80 and Route 322.
“Gamblers is a nice addition to our schedule,” explained Emig. “We’re happy they stepped up to give fans in the Clearfield area an opportunity to see these competitive cars on their ¼-mile track. Gamblers didn’t finalize their plans for the upcoming season until a few weeks ago and they quickly booked a date once they got everything in order. Promoter Dick DeLisle is very excited about this show.”
In other Series news, McKean County Raceway has announced their three Touring Series event payoffs. The Series will kick off with the inaugural show on Saturday, April 28. The Jim Duffy Memorial will pay the winner $1,500 to-win. On Saturday, June 16 McKean will sandwich Raceway 7 and Eriez Speedway’s Touring events and will also pay the winner $1,500. It’s also likely that bonus monies will be offered for the Tri-Track Weekend. The FASTRAK Northeast Series returns on Friday, September 28 with a big $2,000 to-win feature for the Don Hardy Memorial as part of their Fall Classic.
With the recent announcement of the National event at Wytheville Raceway in Wythe, Virginia on September 1 and 2, Dog Hollow Speedway will accommodate teams wishing to travel to the $10,000 to-win event by moving their show to Friday, August 31.
“We’re just extremely proud of how the Series schedule has come together,” exclaimed Leone. “This whole deal was organized in about three months. Not many expected us to have 16 shows for our inaugural season with such little time to work with. A few more items still need finalized like the Pittsburgher and there still exists the possibility of one or two more events plus we’re still working on contingency sponsors. We’ve covered just about every area so there’s a good bet fans throughout the region will get to see the FASTRAK Late Models. We’re excited to go to Gamblers, which will go along nicely with the show at Clinton County. These two events will showcase FASTRAK in central Pennsylvania, which will hopefully lead to growth in that area for 2008. All in all things are looking very strong.”
The 2007 FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series Champion will receive $5,000 and will have a leg up on its competition heading into the three-day Grand Nationals, which will determine the $50,000 National Champion.
