LARGEST POINT FUND in HISTORY of GRASSROOTS RACING set to resume MARCH 31 at EAST ALABAMA MOTOR SPEEDWAY; FASTRAK to PAY OUT $350,000 for 2007 POINT FUND!

March 19, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Carnesville, GA)…The biggest and most exciting year in the history of the bulging FASTRAK Racing Series is upon us. The lucrative season got underway last month at the Winter Nationals at Oglethorpe Raceway Park in Georgia and is set to resume on March 31 at East Alabama Motor Speedway. 2007 will mark the richest point fund in the four-year history of the Series and will be the largest point fund ever for grass roots racing at $350,000! The point fund is second only to the World of Outlaws in dirt late model racing.
“The growth this year has exceeded my expectations,” revealed founder Stan Lester. “I’m very pleased with how everything is transpiring. Never would I have imagined we’d be where we’re at when just five cars showed up at the first race in 2004. The Northeast Region is a good example and a car hasn’t even hit the track yet! The tracks are working together and went with the Goodyear Tires. They have an excellent Touring Series schedule and there is a lot of incentive for the drivers before we even talk about the Grand Nationals. All in all the foundation is there and continues to grow toward the realization of my goal of a ONE MILLION DOLLAR point fund by 2010.”
The Mid West Region is now run by Eric Rudd, Pacific Coast Region is directed by Doug Walters, Mid-East Region directed by Jody Palmer, Great Lakes Region headed up by Jeff Curtin, Southern Region promoted by Jody Palmer, Upper Mid West Region directed by Steve Kauffman, Dakotas’ Regional director will be announced, Heartland Region under the direction of Chuck Fairchild, and Mountain Region directed by Herb Horne.
The Regional Directors have all agreed to meet twice a year to keep up to date on everything and also discuss new ideas for the upcoming season. “I‘m proud of the communication not only between the Corporate Office and each Region, but also the communication between the Regional Directors themselves,” stated Lester. “They’ve all really done a wonderful job and that's what makes our base very strong in the industry. We keep tweaking things each year to make it better for everyone involved. This not only applies to our directors, but to weekly tracks and of course our teams and fans. It takes great communication as we continue to grow and everyone is doing a wonderful job. They’re helping each other and it’s no different than the race teams, it really makes for a better show for our fans.”
Weekly-sanctioned racing will be getting underway at some 50 speedways across the continental United States. As a matter of fact, FASTRAK is still signing up tracks for 2007 including two this week. FASTRAK Corporate will directly pay Goodyear weekly-sanctioned track champions $1,000 or $500 for non-Goodyear tracks. This year 11 Regions will come under the FASTRAK banner and each will award their Touring champion a check for $5,000 and pay through 10 positions.
Weekly-sanctioned racing and Touring Series events will be the Road to the Grand Nationals so to speak. While the Grand Nationals format has not been officially announced, the typical three-day format of years past will be no more. This year, the first night will take place in each of the 11 Regions giving locals more incentive and a chance to add points at a place they’re more accustomed to. The other two dates will be at two different tracks in mid to late October to determine the 2007 $50,000 National Champion.
Will there be a new Cinderella story like 2006’s Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance feel-good version? LaMance used a 1999 car and a $5,000 GM engine with an open trailer racing only at his local track and picking up the two loyalty points for perfect attendance, went to the Grand Nationals, and came away as the 2006 champion by just two points winning $50,000 in cash and another $30,000 in contingencies without even winning at the Nationals.
