CLAYTON, N.C. -- Two teenagers are dead and another is fighting for his life following a head-on collision Sunday night in Johnston County.

Troopers say the three teenage boys were traveling on Johnston Parkway, which runs parallel to Interstate 95, around 7:30 p.m. on their way to meet each other. They didn't have school Monday and were planning a sleepover before a morning duck hunting trip.

Two of the boys were in one truck and the other teen was in another, when for some reason the vehicles collided head on.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Johnston Parkway.
Killed in the accident were 17-year-old Reece Richardson, of Kenly, he was driving a blue Chevy pickup; and 16-year-old Nick Creech, of Selma, he was driving a GMC Sierra pickup. The passenger in Creech’s vehicle, 16-year-old Travis Foster, of Kenly, is fighting for his life at Wake Med.

Troopers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time and they say all three teens were wearing seatbelts. All three boys were students at North Johnston High School.

I was listening to this call on the scanner last night. The first initial page was for a vehicle fire on the service road beside I-95. A Kenly police officer arrived on the scene and advised 911 that it was condition red (fully involved) vehicle fire. Then it was actually discovered to be a wreck.

- ok....so Reece, Nick, Travis & Brad were all at Reece's house
- and Reece invited them to stay over and go duck hunting in the morning
- so Nick & Travis went to their houses together and go clothes to spend the night
- well while they were gone Reece went down to road to visit some of his family
- and when Reece goes home from that way he always loops all the way around
-so when Reece was going back to his house Nick & Travis were headed in the opposite direction
-well one of the two vehicles went over center
-and they hit on each others driver sides
- a few mins. later Adam Nixon & Jared Managaro went past so they went to Reeces house but the only vehicle that they recognized was Travis's so they told Reece's dad that -they saw Travis's truck & that he had gotten into a wreck
- so then Reece's dad got into his truck & took the two boys w/him to the accident
- he realized that it was Reece's truck & ran towards it
- (this is really sad)
- then Ricky ran to Reece's truck & looked in
-he saw Reece laying in the floor board dead
- but Reece's truck was also on fire
-so Ricky tried to jump through the window & get his body but he couldn't
- they don't know if Reece's body was saved or not
- I heard all of this from Reece's little sister Rebecca
- by saved you mean with jesus?
- huh?
- oh no
- I mean like his physical body
- like whether or not he was completely burned up

My thoughts and prayers are with the survivor as well as his family and friends and with the family and friends of those who didn't. I have lost a parent which to this day i have bad days but to loose a child would be the worst thing imaginable. May all the prayers needed be sent to those families.

Wow it doesn't seem like it was that long ago. I was good friends to 2 of them also. I will never forget us pulling up on the wreck right after it had happened. That will be a vision that I will never be able to let go of. My heart and prayers go out to the families of the boys that got killed. My prayers are also there for the boy that is hospitalized. I hope that he has a speedy recovery. God Bless those kids. They had such a short life but the Lord has bigger and better plans for them up there with him.
