Wondering what some of our cars are gonna do this yr if nobody opens the track...I feel the same as JVZ (77 ministock) ...It is getting old wondering (who, what, when and where) as far as where to race goes...I am bout ready to finish the body and sell it all...Buy a camper and relax at the lake with the family...Lets hear some other plans...

Hey Brad, I already bought my camper. Maybe I'll see you at the lake. Sure is sad about Harpers. Drivers that supported the track sure hate to see this.
I am hoping that drivers will get together an agree to support a local track and just maybe through this someone interested in leasing a local track will see the possible support. Mod 4 racing seems to be in trouble. I still need to get by your house to check it out for generator hook-up.

I cannot agree with your statement, CLR is a last resort for me and I live close to it. I read in another post you can run tires for 4 weeks, that's hogwash. Unless they are about a 100 compound and your slipping all over the track. It's a one groove hard dirt and sand (not clay) track. All you can do there is follow the leader unless youput somebody out of the way and into the wall. Oh and there's the fighting, it's so much fun to go to fight and a race breaks out.

lol how can u tell me u can't run tire for a lil while 4weeks i unno but you can run them aleast 2 week and still might have to buy 1 and follow the leader i don't know where u have been at but clr isn't follow the leader u must be thinkin of Fms lol fights not many fights come run there this year and see u have been blinded by CLR

He has never been in the front so to the #14 it is follow the leader. You need to go see how they pass the cars in front of you. Don,t here any of the drivers ever saying they can,t pass. It,s dirt, clay make your on groove . CLR is a very good track.

I hope that you all affected by the probable Harper's closing can find a good track to race on. Hopefully some of you will try CLR, but if not, somewhere else you can enjoy yourself racing. And Dan and Brad - it would be aweful sad for me to accidentally drive by your lake on a raceday and see no racecars, just nothin' but stinky fish all over the place. :animaL17: :animaL17: :animaL17: :animaL17: :animaL17:
Very sad indeed. :wings_no:

First of all, I have raced there for a few years in the past, so I do know how CLR is. Let's just face the facts: A) It is a ONE groove track. You put your nose up under the rear quarter panel of the car infront of you, make him push up enough to get him out of the groove, then you drag race down the backstretch, and hold him (or her...sorry)in the high line going into three. The person on the outside has no chance through turns 3 and 4.Pass completed, repeat until you are the leader. B) Not everyone can afford tires every 2 weeks, if not 1 tire every week. If you run the Mini Stock class, I understand how you can run that long. You buy a set of Winston Winners for $30 a piece, and run the full season. All other classes though must buy race tires for no less than $110 a piece.Just to compare that to other tracks in this area, We purchaced 4 new tires in the beginning of this past season to run at Clary's/Harpers/FMS/Dublin/Wayne County, and we are still gonna start this season with those tires where ever it may be. C) One thing County Line has that other tracks could learn from is a large group of supporters that will be there no matter what. Everytime anyone starts to be down on CLR, you are there to defend your track. I admire your loyalty. If Harpers or other tracks could keep enough of a core group together, maybe they would be running this year. Unfortunatly it looks as though racers will have to venture to tracks other than their hometown track. Maybe some will go to CLR and become one of those diehard supporters that all tracks need. Only time will tell. Just do me a favor if you would. From now on don't make things out to be what they aren't. Just tell it like it is. CLR IS hard, it IS a one groove track, but it is also still running after many years. So love it or hate it you have to give to CLR they figured something out that others have missed.:no34:

i don't see how u can't pass on the high side it has been done before and the guys that race there seem not to complain about the surface some go other tracks and race but still come back to clr it is a fun track maybe the mod 4 can talk with james and come race there once this year and yall find out it is a good track now days

Thanks Justin, I guess he didn't know I ran there last year. And for running at rhe back I was in a Sportsman Car shaking it down running against their late models. But it's alright for them to defend it, they should it's their favorite track, but don't lie about it, every racer that has ran there for ten years knows it's the truth.:whip3:

Everyone complains about not having a track in their hometown well I pull 2 hours to just about everywhere I run so if you cant afford to pull more than 30 minutes take up golf and the tire situation, if buying more tires is the only way to run then I will buy tires or just wont run when I can't scrape up the money. You wouldnt let the closing of your local track stop your racing if you really wanted to race in the first place

im gonna have to say the clr is a "fast" and fun track but the surface is not very desirable.... it just needs some good clay on the other hand harpers is pure sand and there is nothing else to be said bout that there turns are crap to.... as for passing at the line yea its nothing but a drag race! but you either love it or hate it and we love it so thats where were racing... guess the ones complaining arnt good enough to drive at the line!

I wish Wayne Co. could get the support CLR seems to have. That is my favorite track for watching a race.

Clr can be run on the outside if you have the ----- to run there. I have run on the inside and outside and have seen many a pure stock race both v8 and 4 cly run almost from start to finish run side by side. It could stand to have more clay, and as for tires, if they aren't wearing your not pushing your car to the limit.

.......and as for tires, if they aren't wearing your not pushing your car to the limit.
:wings_hmm: I guess your right. If only I could just learn how to push my car to the limit and wear my tires out every other week instead of running numerous races and race tracks on the same ones.:wings_hmm:

I guess some folks missed some of them Pure Stock 4 Cylinder races at CLR that I seen last year. Them guys were side by side ALOT!

There are some points I agree with about CLR needing some new clay, but it's home. Always has been and always will be. Through the years many friendships have been created there for myself, hell some of them are even like family.

You are right,CLR is a HARD track!! As far as 1 grove, you might want to ask Victor May about that. I saw Victor on more than 1 ocassion come from the back, pass cars on the high side in the corners and make it to the front and win.Not everyone can do it,but Victor made it work. As far as tires go, it depends on how good your car handles. Granted ,the tires will not last like they do at WCW,Clarys,FMS,etc(I wish they would!) On the #L2 Camaro,i got 3 races out of the RR tire,4 races out of the RF and LR tires. The LF just rides!LOL!! Like i said before,it depends on setup and driver.

Everyone knows Britches Liles pushes our cars to the LIMIT( and beyond sometimes!!LOL!!) and we get very good tire wear!!3 races on the RIGHT REAR,then i take it off and give it away to someone else to run a few races.

Chris, you'll have to agree that using a tire on a late model that punches 50 there is no way you can pass on the outside. Every car that anybody on this thread has talked about passing on the outside was a 4 cyl.. And the only way you can have a tire run 3 races there is to punch 50. I saw the tires that Buddy Isles ran the first time last year and they were almost slick with 1 race on them and they were 48's

The American Racers will not last that long. The Hoosier RC46 will last 3 races on the RR on our cars.

I like CLR and the people there. They were nice to me and my dad when we have gone there. They just do not run tube mods, or a sportsman class, so that rules us out. The dirt can't be no harder than Harpers, if they ran our class, Id show up.
