PEARSON, MCCREADIE, JOHNSON, KAUFFMAN, BLAZE AND MATTIOLIS TO BE INDUCTED INTO EMPA HALL OF FAME
Alan Johnson and Tim McCreadie earn Driver of the Year Awards


LANGHORNE, PA JANUARY 2, 2007 . . .
The Eastern Motorsport Press Association, made up of close to 200 media that cover motorsports on a regular basis, will be adding six new members to their Hall of Fame.
NASCAR great David Pearson (winner of 105 Cup races), DIRT Modified standout Bob McCreadie, World of Outlaws founder Ted Johnson, sprint car racing legend Keith Kauffman, the late Trenton, NJ Times motorsports writer Harry Blaze and Pocono Raceway owners Drs. Joe and Rose Mattioli will be inducted into the EMPA Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 27th. The induction ceremony will be part of the annual three day EMPA Convention taking place at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Trevose, PA.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions, Alan Johnson, who had an outstanding season in DIRT Modified competition winning 20 feature races and three track titles on his way to the Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series “Mr. DIRT Modified” Championship, will be honored as the Richie Evans Memorial/EMPA Northeast Driver of the Year.
Tim McCreadie, winner of the World of Outlaws Late Model championship, will be honored as the Al Holbert Memorial EMPA National Driver of the Year.
James Hylton, 71 years of age and still running NASCAR and ARCA events in 2006, will receive the Junie Donlavey Spirit of the Sport Award while Indy Racing League “Rookie of the Year” Marco Andretti will be honored with the T. Wayne Robertson Newsmaker Award.
In addition a variety of other special awards will be presented as part of the NASCAR/EMPA Hall of Fame dinner which will be preceded by a SPEED Channel reception at 6 p.m. on January 27th.
During the course of the three day convention there will be a variety of press conferences and other events. There will be participation by the IRL, NASCAR, ARCA, DIRT, Watkins Glen, New Hampshire International, Richmond International Raceway, Dover International, Pocono Raceway and a host of others. It is a great opportunity for local tracks and organizations to meet the media that covers the sport on a regular basis and increase their exposure opportunities.
