Amherst, OH. (August 27, 2005) – Despite heavy rain showers in the late afternoon, the fans, racers, and Hall of Fame inductees still traveled to Lorain Speedway for the annual Racers’ Reunion and Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. Twenty-two out of twenty-three Hall of Fame inductees were represented, traveling from as far as Florida and North Carolina to be part of the induction ceremony. Local race fans had the opportunity to see many of their racing heroes while old friends reunited to catch up on years gone by.
Despite a “green” racetrack, the on-track racing action was reminiscent of years past with three-wide racing and bumper-to-bumper excitement. In the first feature it was the #2 Modified, and current points leader who took home the victory. Stacey Gerken made his way from the back of the pack to the front of the field followed by the ever hard-charging TJ Stineman. Rounding out the top five were Troy Bonemma, Doug Meyer, and Jeff “Never” Fade.
In the Grand National division it was the #17 of Charles Hunt who won the hard luck award. Hunt had a convincing lead in the feature, but was sent to the back of the pack when his bumper came off of his car. Mark Smith took the lead, followed by his team car #22 Rick Pruchnicki. Rounding out the top five in the feature was Dan Fortney, Rick Harmon, and Calvin “Ironman” McMahon.
In the American Auto Sales Spectator Stock Division it was Kevin “On the Ball” McCall who picked up the feature win in the Fast Fourteen feature. McCall was followed by points leader Sammy Rubesne, Kenny Koester, Ryan Smith, and Jack Saylor. Winning the B-Main was Brian McCall. Picking up a heat win were Bill Lantz, Brian McCall, and Ryan Smith. Smith also picked up the Helmet Dash win.
