Another track for lease (Harpers Closed?)

I talked with Lisa Harper today and she has informed me that they will not run the track next year themselves. It was going to be leased by Barry Eller but that deal has went sour and the track is now looking for another person to lease it.. She told me that Someone else was interested but no deals have been made as to what will happen with this track in the 2007 season.

Well there you have it!!! Don't look for any rules anytime soon..

Man looks like clr All year for m. With a infant on the way its not looking like I can travel as much as I have in the past and now no clarys wayne county, so I wwas counting on harpers. Well maybe clr can adjust the schedule and have late models more than they have had in the past, if not gonna have to make it to fms as much as possible.

The number of tracks are dwindling. It is my understanding that Fayetteville is not going to run SLMs every week. Just keeping my fingers crossed that someone will open Wayne County in 2007 and run SLMs every week.

That really is depressing news. I was suspecting this with all the delay in releasing the rules. Glad I waited on doing modifications to the car to comply with the proposed rules. I hope the other racers left their cars alone too. I guess that I will be hanging up my helmet for good this year. I have always said I would hang it up when it quit being fun for me, and the waiting and folks riding the fence on wether or not the tracks gonna open has taken the fun out of it for me.

I have to agree with you VZ...there definately is not much fun left in it...us poor boy racers cant ride 3 hrs every sat to race night either....Clary's and WCS is stretching it (distance) for me...Guess I'll hang that body on it and let it sit...Ain't costing me a dime sitting and rusting!...We'll see what happens I guess...

How about all you drivers getting together and asking the Harpers if they would open it up and run some races there for fun, meaning not a lot of purse money, maybe a percentage of the gate? that way you will have a place to race, and it wont cost the Harpers an arm and a leg to open the track, it would also mean that the drivers would have to go out and beat the drum for the track to build up the paying fan base every week. it is a thought, it was done back in the northeast with some success. it is an option instead of throwing your hands up and complaining about it, it would be back to the roots oldtime fun racing, no since in building high dollar race cars, just race and have a good time, on the harpers part, they would need to do something about the cost to get into the pits, maybe figure out a break even cost for utilities and insurance, and then just give it a shot.

Hello Everyone

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As the new year is here so is the bad news.. I have put off posting here hoping to be able to post good news. :help: I have none. I am truly sorry for all the drivers and fans of Harpers. I myself was really lookin forward to this year at the track. Even tho time is passing by pretty fast now, I keep hoping something will change .

well if Harpers doesnt open back up and it looks like they wont, I will gladly support James @ Countyline anyday... Its a great track and good people running it.

Spoke with Lisa a couple days ago.. There are a couple people looking at the track including a developer... its would be a sad day for it to be sold to a developer....
