My laptop has very bad pop-up advertisements. I have tried a lot of things to get rid of them, but nothing works. Does anyone have any ideas for getting rid of pop-ups. I get mess from vote for coke or pepsi, get a home mortgage, to get 1000 smilies. It slows my computer down and annoys me like crazy. Please, any help on what to do will be greatly appreciated!!!

If you have Norton Internet Security, you can turn on add blocker and pop up blocker through the Norton Internet settings. McAfee is the same way. You can also go online and download free add and pop up blocking software. Hope this helps....

Download this attachement install and then run it. It will remove about 99% of the addware on your computer. If you run AOL as your default browser then I would sugest running on a weekly basis. AOL is very invasive. If you want a real good browser with built in pop-up protection then go to www.avantbrowser.com this is what i use and will never use Internet Explorer agin. Mater a fact i have deleted all icons to it..:) o=You can log on to AOL and minimize the window and start up AVANT and browse the internet in a n=much better enviroment that thet stinking AOL. I guess you can tell I have no love loos for AOL.. :smokem Let me how things work out. In the supporting members area we have a forum that has all kinds of computer software. For free. I'll be explaining this area soon to the forums :12epper:

It's almost a 3meg file so depending on your connection it might take a bit to d/l

Is this Lavasoft's Ad-Aware SE personal??? If so, her is my problem. I have downloaded it and then had to unistall and have done this five or six times to see if it would work. But everytime it does the same thing. When I go to run the program, after about a minute of searching my hard drive, a box comes up that says my computer will restart in 45 seconds. I can't remember what the box says besides it will shut down and restart my computer. I know there is a lot of stuff on my computer but the program is never able to even finish searching my computer so I can't quarantine the stuff or clean it. My desktop works fine with Ad-Aware but my laptop as I said doesn't. Do you know why this is happening or what it is?

Also, I have McAfee Security Center with the firewall, virus protection, spamkiller, and privacy security. I have already set it to block pop-ups and block ads. Plus I have checked block pop-ups on my internet explorer browser. I also have Microsoft Anti-Spyware. Nothing seems to work. Maybe I will try the browser your talking about.
