What does everyone think of the new rules? Dont know what the other late model drivers think, but I think the engine rules are on the right track to keep costs down and really rebuild the class, and hopefully the crate option will open new doors to affordable racing in this division, I know I would like to try one myself, take care all, and plane to see you at CLR in '07.....SL

Crate engines are the future to weekly late model racing. I do believe in some cases they will be the saviour of the class for weekly racers.

I don't have an opinion on that but I know I would like to see late models at the track more often

Maybe I haven't seen the crates on the right race track yet, but the 3 or 4 tracks I have seen them race on really wasn't impressive! Kind of like watching a Super Street car with a Late Model body on it race. I've seen them race at Cherokee, Wythe, Golden Isle and Carolina. Maybe they put on better shows at smaller tracks like CLR or Harpers.

I think you hit the nail on the head. On a big half-mile horsepower makes a difference. At a tigher, narrower, and pretty flat track like County Line, handling is much more important than horsepower. That's how Britches managed to be so competitive in the late model races and won the last race they had using a T&L motor.

Twiddy, all those tracks are huge. Even Carolina, you need some horses to get around that joint. They are really good for tracks like CLR, where too much horsepower is a disadvantage. Those crate guys put on one helluva show at East Bay. Probably even better than the Super Lates did.
