View Full Version : 125 Late Model Teams Qualified for the $50,000 to Win Championship

CARNESVILLE, Ga. -- The Fastrak $50,000 to win, $250,000 National Championship is about to begin as dirt late model teams from across the country are headed this way. These late model teams have competed all season in their respective areas of the country for a “right to compete” as this “historic” event. Teams are coming from all over the country which includes Oregon, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Washington and South Carolina. Many are already headed this way making the long trip from the West Coast. Each team has been awarded points they will start the three day weekend with and will be scored by points each night to determine the eventual National Champion (http://www.racefan.com/sresults.asp?SanctionID=988&StoryID=206689#) and take home the $50,000 to win cash prize.

Track Champions from 24 weekly sanctioned tracks will be competing as well as Regional Champions from 7 different regions across the entire USA. This will truly be the “best of the best”. Former UMP National Champions (http://www.racefan.com/sresults.asp?SanctionID=988&StoryID=206689#), former X-treme late Model series champions, former Fastrak late Model series champions will all be competing for the “historic” prize. This weekends three day shoot out is the largest championship of this type in the history of dirt racing (http://www.racefan.com/sresults.asp?SanctionID=988&StoryID=206689#). The anticipation is high as teams are bringing back up cars, spare engines, spare tires and enough parts to build a new race car in an event or a day which ever is required from them.

It should be an exciting three days of racing as every event will feature qualifying, heat races, as many as four semi mains and the A main as the feature event. There will be prizes for fans and the teams each night in addition to some of the greatest side by side racing ever witnessed. There will be prizes each night for the fans. Night one will have a $10,000 cash drawing. Night two will have a contest for a new Harley Davidson motorcycle and Night three a new 4 x 4 crew cab pick up truck. In addition each event will host fireworks, driver autograph session, tennis ball (http://www.racefan.com/sresults.asp?SanctionID=988&StoryID=206689#) throw to the fans with cash in them and a four wide around the track “salute to the fans”.

Night one will be featured at Volunteer Speedway (http://www.racefan.com/sresults.asp?SanctionID=988&StoryID=206689#) in Bulls Gap TN Thursday Oct 19th. Night two at Riverside Speedway in Travelers Rest SC and night three for the Grand Finale and crowing of the champion at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster SC. Nights one and two will feature 50 lap main events with night three a 100 lap main event and a “on track pit stop” in front of the fans on lap 50. The fans will be able to see the teams working on their cars right on the front straight and making changes trying to get towards the front by lap 100.

Each day the pits will open at 12:00 noon and grandstands at 4:30 and cares on the track by 6:30. Call ahead and make sure there are plenty of tickets available.

The Fastrak Racing Series is a GM crate engine late model dirt racing series and utilizes both the GM 604 and 602 crate engines. Fastrak was started in 2004 as the “first” late model touring series with crate engines in dirt. The Series is compiled of 7 Regions throughout the Nation and 26 weekly sanctioned tracks. The drivers of the series will compete for a $250,000 National Championship in 2006 at three tracks in three days Oct 19-20-21.

The Series anticipates 10 Regions for the 2007 season as it also continues to expand its “weekly sanctioned track program” for the 07 season paying each track champion for their efforts as well as Regions and the Grand Nationals. The 2007 Points fund is anticipated of being dramatically increased possibly making it the largest in dirt late model racing.

Fastrak started an Open Wheel Modified division in 2006 with the 2007 season anticipated as growing very quickly.
