I hate being a total newbie here but I had a few quick questions for you gents with experience. Im up in the midwest and Im considering running in a mini-stock class next year to get started. Ive never raced asphalt or dirt, just drag racing. Everyone at my local track races escorts or neons but you get a few hondas now and then. I have relatives that have raced late model and pure stock on the dirt and they do well, but fwd is totally different. Nobody here runs RWD in the 4-cyl class. I dont really know what kind of car to even look for as a starter. I was hoping you guys might have some friendly advice as to where I could look for cars other than the obvious junk yards. I've heard in other parts of the country the Pinto and MustangII can be good cars, as well as vegas. But where the heck could are people finding these cars cheap? All the ones I've come accross are restored or kept original, so it would be painful to spend 2,000 on a car and chop it to pieces. I would think you could find a newer car cheap enough to get started with that has a salvage title or had been in a small accident. Since airbags and dented fenders arent important anymore this would be a bonus as most ppl are just trying to part out cars like this. Anyway I dont know what all to be looking for with DO's and DONT'S. And advice from you folks would be appreciated greatly! Thanks in advance.
